WoW inspired models are allowed, but game rips (Taking out something from a game) is against the game's copyright and against the hive's rules

You can to some degree use ripped blizzard models in your maps as long as they fit in the map and aren't just random. (=Quality)

Yeah, that works too,in fact,if i could remember we have a Director's Cut Map with a game rip but the map had great quality, but uploading them here,no,just no

Guys, I think he's asking why.

Like Vengeancekael said, it's a-okay to use WoW models in maps as long as thy aren't random, fit in the map and you can't find any better model. This is allowed because Blizzard sanctioned it.

Uploading WoW models on the models section-honestly I don't get it. But I think you may upload WoW models as long as you have it properly converted it for the respective games. On a second thought, better ask a model moderator about that.

Any model taken from a game, or consists of parts taken from a game, cannot be uploaded to the Wc3 models section. About uploading it to the Sc2 section, it is still questionable.
You are free to use them in your map, and upload your map, but there is a good chance your map will be rejected.

The reason behind restricting the use of other game's material is because of copyright. Yes whilst this is the internet and we can pirate shit if we want (eg. XGM or Wc3 Unlimited), the Hive chooses to remain a dignified website that abides by the law and respects other's property.

the map mod said this:

It depends, you can upload WoW models to the model section if considerable work has been put in. An example was a WoW dragon which had its mesh optimized and was re-textured to reduce file size dramatically. What you cannot do is upload WoW models directly from a third party converter as anyone who owns WoW can do that.

Besides ripping wow models... would it be ok to use google-imported stuff for creating skins and licensed names?
for example if i create a coca-cola bottle out of my mind and use a skin taken from the web (never meant to actually do that :p) would this break the sites rules? same for icons?
