It's probably not the problem, but seeing as you appear to be a newer user... Just to be sure:
You are using either NewGen (a modified editor) or a vJASS compiler aren't you?
Writing it straight into the vanilla editor won't work (as far as I'm aware).

uhmm yeh greynightmare ur correct im really new but still i have small knowledge about jass because i started as a gui user and curiosity brings me to this. To be straight yeah, i used newgen. Is newgen really advised to use in this course?
