Sorry if I'm a little inexperienced, but how, exactly, do you assign a custom image to a map?
(The one you see just after downloading or selecting maps)

What ever image your using you need to size it down to 128x128 or 256x256 pixels. Then you need to save it in TGA format (You might be able to us BLP but I've never tried). You import it into your map with the path of war3mapPreview.tga (If your trying BLP format change tga to blp) I believe thats about it. Hope it helps.

Got it, I'd previously done everything you mentioned, what got me was that I needed to set the preview screen to "not hidden" and, my most sreious problem was that I needed to save and close the editor, also, I wasn't sure when you ment war3mapPreview.tga as in just "war3mapPreview.tga" or "war3mapPreview/(Image).tga" kinda stupid I guess, but I ultimately figured out it was the former, literally just as you said.
