'In the southern most region of Cornith,
A forest of great age is thriving.
Leaf by leaf, beast by beast,
A grand cycle of constant growing.

But Fire, Fire! All around!
Crackling, hissing to death's sound.
Man or beast, wild or tame,
Each greet the destroyer the same!

From tree to tree, in burrows akin,
Plants burn, creatures spin.
In the tent, or a structure of might,
All collapse with no fight.

Born in a place of such life,
Makes the consumption ever more ripe.
They watch as it devours,
Even the rarest most beautiful flower.

In that southern most region of Cornith,
The forest of great age is going.
Leaf by leaf, beast by beast,
The grand cycle is now done. '

- A poem written by Harry Matthews four days after King Baraden's announced death
