patch download error

hello, i have tried to update my game by downloading a patch (my version is 1.21b downloaded from cd i bough).But when i downloaded the patch and turned it on it said :warcraft 3 was unable to initialise. is there a way to fix it? :( (i dont have reforged btw i have to original wc3)
