Is there a proper way to open .w3a archive(related with custom spells)? I mean, I can open it with notepad++ but I see a bunch of Null characters, along with other words, making it really hard to read.

Thank you WaterKnight, but is there any other way to edit it? I'm trying to translate it but the amount of letters must match with the new ones, otherwise I got errors..

Edit: btw, could you tell me a good hex editor?

Those are binary files, meaning you should read them as they are without interpreting newlines and such, opening/writing files in binary mode. The format must be exactly as stated on the site.

I use Next-Soft Hex Editor.

In my signature, I have written a tool for reading various binary files of wc3 and storing the data in a LUA table, respectively you can modify the table and reconvert it.

@WaterKnight
Thanks for your help. I tried to use your tool but I didn't succeeded, however I found a way to edit with notepad++. All I had to do is convert the file to UTF-8, and somehow I was able to clearly see what I needed.

Problem solve.
