I created a triggered spell that blasts a targeted area dealing damage to enemies.

On in game test, I cast the spell and quickly cancels it but the trigger still works and damages foes. Means that it can be spammed by using cancel cast.

You have to post the trigger. We can't know what's wrong when we don't know what you have done.

But with this information, my guess is you used the wrong event. Use "A unit starts the effect of an ability". That only triggers after the spells is actually cast and mana cost is counted for.

If your ability is a channeling ability (like channel or flamestrike), you want to use "finish casting an ability" event. You can look at detailed guide here: Casting Events Guide
