Hi guys

So basically i am new to making my own maps with the editor, i have messed around with the editor previously, but i just have not been able to progress with doing it all by myself

So i hope i don't flamed for this, but would anyone be able to, say, give me a template for a map? as in, tell me what kind of map to make, what doodads and buildings to place, what triggers to use, etc, just to break me into map making?

You can go as in depth as you like, the more the better! but i'm not expecting anything huge of anyone, just something from whoever would like to help

I hope to get a few replies soon, in the meantime, i will have more of a play with the editor, until i can get instructions for something to create

I suggest thinking of a theme you know well.

A common theme for people that they know well would be an anime like Naruto or Bleach. Maybe you have a favorite book or something?

What I'm trying to say is that it's best to attempt to re-create a world in the editor that you're familiar with and have a good understanding of.

Mr. The_Key, the what doodas, buildings or triggers u use is COMPLETELY up 2 u.the triggers u *have 2 use* is depending on what u want 2 make. the same the maps. u can make either spell maps, *dungeons*, tower defenses, DOTO-Styled maps and eventually campaigns. just look @ the tutorial section 4 more details, info and hlp. but before asking about the *how-2-make-it* i would first think of what exactly i am going 2 do 4 the beginning and than ask 4 details. i also started recently with the *self-made* stuff in WC3, but i know some things of the basics in map-making. as 4 the *with doing it all by myself* no worries. feel free 2 email me maps incomplete maps with instructions of what u want 2 have done in them. I DON'T STEAL UR MAPS (coz sum ppl r afraid 4 map-piracy)!

Well, I've started using Galaxy Editor by creating a melee map. If you want something with triggers, though, this would not be the type. If you decide to create a melee map, though, make sure to take a look at a few of Blizzard's to get a balance idea on the drops.

Triggers in GUI are pretty simple, they already tell you what they do in the description just play around with some events and read what they do and also read the comments blizzard made under them for clarification. The best way would be to find out some things yourselves and then try to understand the more complicated stuff later on when you're more familiar with basic functions ...

And i don't know about you but im not a guy who uses tutorials cause they annoy me but if that is different by you then i guess you can just use tutorials for everything from start to end.

I learned to play with the editor. I suggest you first learn how to terrain: compare tiles and see how well they match, then compare doodads with the tiles and with other doodads, then see which creeps fit the terrain (white wolfs in snow, water elementals in water terrains etc.). As others already suggested, beginning with a melee map is a good idea.

Once you are a bit experienced with these things, you should learn to know the object editor a bit better. You can do a lot of things with, and I mean a lot! I learned by creating custom units for altered melee maps. Creating custom units with custom abilities is an execellent way of learning the object editor and in a lot of maps the units and abilities are very important.

Good luck with it!
