Since im developing it now, i like to present my current work to all members of our tester&fan-group.
As some of you know, i´m working on a new item system. It´s faster, it requires teamplay and it will be unique in the whole AoS scene :thumbs_up:

Raw materials
  • Stackable (10)
  • drops from creeps
  • can't be sold, but can be bought at a special vendor too
  • neccessary for basic-, rare items and artefacts
  • in order to give you some space: add a box in the base for saving items

  • Iron - drops from all creeps, 30% chance
  • Leather - drops from all creeps, 15% chance
  • Lumber - drops from all creeps, 15% chance
  • Soul essence - drops rarly from normal creeps (5%) more often from high-lvl creeps (30-100%)
  • Life essence - drops rarly from normal creeps (5%) more often from high-lvl creeps (30-100%)

  • max. 2 sorts of raw materials per item

About that part, I think you should scrap the axe, and make it more like this:

First, what's the point of making 4 items which give no stats but +10 damage, and then making a scepter which gives no damage but +10 int. Would be better if you had 3 items which give +10 *stat* and 1 item which gives +15 dmg.

Second, in your list, why the hell would you want an item which gives -10% movement speed. It'd render your boots which you bought useless, and make you alot slower than every other hero too, and therefore alot likely to die because you can't run away properly. would be better if you had an item which just gives alot of armour and an item which gives alot less armour but gives a little movement speed.

Third, and this isn't an offence, but I don't see this ever working properly.
Reasons; Casters kill ALOT more creeps than for example the assasin, which just isn't made for creep killing. And you get less money for killing hero's, since in the 40-60 seconds it took you to kill that hero, (not to mention you come across them less and can also fail to kill them), as a caster you could've killed a dozen of creeps already. So that means casters get more cash to buy those ingredients, and also get more ingredients from killing creeps. So they (the casters) could get alot more items, which would render the casting of skills useless for them later in the game, because they'd have 100+ bonus dmg from items. And in the meanwhile, those heroes based on hero killing instead of farming creeps, would still be gathering ingredients for those boots they want to badly.

And, you can react with the argument; "teamwork is needed, so stronger people give their ingredients to weaker people", or a 100 different versions of that, but you have to admit;

Do you see people which you do not know (so that means pretty much 99.9% of bnet) giving items to each other and properly working as a team?
This would be cool if it could be activated as a mode, but not as a standard game. This would work if you'd play with a group of friends, but not with strangers.

Hi!
First of all i removed stats on basic items, instead i added a magical-class (=low lvl items).
Regarding the caster vs. melee heros: we (hashishkin, psy, me...) are trying to weak the casters aoe abilities, done so far, but maybe needs more work. Anyway this item system is relly fair. Caster can collect gold as hell - but thats useless, they´ll have to go in the fight and take the dropped raw items. The melee hero instead kills not as fast, but picks up raw materials with a 100% chance.
I´ve seen that in the last games, it works well. Let´s see if it´s fair enough :)
