Hello! I'm a noob trying to make a terrain for my rpg map. I really suck at terraining and would like to get some tips on how to improve my village!
I know it's empty but I don't know what to put where :con:
+rep for help and thx for taking your time:thumbs_up:

Oh. At least u do not use Blizzard cliffs. If I were u I would drop those green-roofed buildings and find better models. U could put also some grasses or shrubs on those grass tiles.
Village Theme; hmm Maybe adding some fruit, food or merchant stands. And please use custom trees from the hive not default trees. Those default ones are ugly. U could also add a river near this village, or improve those "mountains" adding rocks. trees and shrubs.

Looking good as a start but for some suggestions: The original house models together with the custom ones in my honest opinion does not fit much. If you are going for the custom ones, just use them, don't combine them with the original building for it does not fit. Also, it could use some more doodads in it like Hays, Carts, some post lights and some ore that are for villages. Grasses would be a great move also here, placing some could improve the terrain.

The terrain is quite flat as well, I would suggest making some hills through the raise, plateau and smooth tool on the Terrain Palette then on the top, place some more village houses there.

Also, you might want to add some weather and fog here, it'll make this much more better: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/general-mapping-tutorials-278/all-about-fog-94771/

And some tutorials as an addition: http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/cat_usersubmit.php?view=32561 and http://www.thehelper.net/threads/terraining-complete-terraining-tutorial.103633/

I would suggest making the grass' scaling size or maximum size or scale higher than the default value so it can get bigger then.
Not necessarily!

Looks better. But I still think those houses with green roofs are out of place. I would replace those too. About the grass u could darken it a bit. You know like tinting it to 180 180 180. I would also make the fog denser and choose a more dark blueish color for it.
A chest if u want: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/models-530/fill-me-up-treasure-chest-50672/?prev=search%3Dstand%26r%3D20%26d%3Dlist%26page%3D4
Also adding these stands could be good choice:

If you're going for a classic Wc3 style, then by no means replace them buildings.
They fit.

Also, commendable tile-work, for not being an experienced terrainer, that's some pretty sweet looking tile variation.
If anything, I wouldn't actually advice you to add anything more to what you currently have, I'd simply advice you
to expand in the same style. Sometimes, simple isn't always bad.

Oh, and, PS: I liked the Blizzard Trees better for this terrain.

Terrain style mostly depends on resources you use.

Forest should be huge, dark and full of environment doodads (Trees, shrubs, rocks, logs etc).
You could add cave at some location, small lake, like place, or hidden camp.

Add fog like effects here and there. Wild animals and maybe some boss area with giant bear
or something, (depending on story line and so on).

I think your forest is a little close to your village as well, there should be some sort of separation otherwise you might run into problems with the spiders attacking NPCs and vice versa. Other than that I'd listen to what Kobas said, make a large wilderness, with smaller villages.
