I dunno if this goes here, but i don't think it goes into the Modeling Help forum either.

I'm looking to try my hand at a little model making, and i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on how to start. I don't currently own any programs that do this sort of thing, and as a college student, i won't be owning any programs that do this sort of thing any time soon.

Does a program have to be purchased, or are there free ones/trial versions out there that can be used to create warcraft 3 models?

I will be trying to make modern day building/ civilian/ combat units for a rpg map i am working on. right now i am using filler units and buildings, but i thought it would be neat to see if i could make my own.

Thanks for any suggestions.
