Model fixing help needed

Model editing skills are needed for the job I believe but it could be just a skin problem. I have no knowledge of either one but I think it's a simple fix.

The model is taken from the TToR MPQ archive, which was shared on the wc3c.net but I couldn't get in contact with anybody who was part of the mod's team.
Also look at the pic's I believe it's not a "real" model edit, it's more like a fix because this thing doesn't seem to be part of the body of the model itself...

Still I don't know if I do have to have permission to "edit" the model, as I wrote I can't contact the people from the team...

Could anybody help me somehow?
