Before the Mission:
Two Weeks ago, Kroga Trinth used his newfound powers of Disorder to murder his sister -- Supreme Empress Vella Trinth -- at Castle Hilenika. After obliterating her and the castle, the Heart of Disorder (a demi-god named Ubonthius) took near-full control over him. He went on a dark voyage through the entire Fievdom, recruiting creatures and followers to do his bidding. Seeking those that naturally carry disorder in their souls, offering immortality, power, wisdom and a promise for a rightful place in the world. A promise to prosper among the survivors of the Age of Disorder that was going to unfold as a result of Kroga's reign.

One of these creatures he found interest in was a half Gnoll and Kobold hybrid. Artificially bred by an unknown, and recently deceased Ogre Magi that lived somewhere between the Great Barrier Hills, East of Riverglen. This creature's name was King Gorba. His unique appearance and strength allowed him to rule over both a sizable group of Kobolds and a clan of Gnolls. With his ferocity and size, Gorba was able to forcefully unite both races under one banner, despite the two races hating each other deeply.

Gorba's throne room was situated in an elaborate cave below the Great Barrier Hills. Dug out by Kobolds and the interior shaped by the skilled craftsmanship of the Gnolls. In a large, tall room stood a vacant throne with a long carpet in front of it, woven from exotic dried mosses and laced with glowing mushroom spores, giving it a dim but deep golden glow in contrast to the looming darkness above.

Kroga Trinth wanted to approach Gorba in person. Upon entry, he was stopped by Gorba's elite guards; Sword-wielding, agile Gnolls in brass alloy armors socketed with large green emeralds. But they were quickly dispatched and the remaining guards ran.

As Kroga approached, Gorba reacted with a high-pitch growl. King Gorba is quite intelligent, he knows that whoever this hooded figure is, he just made it past his most elite guards without visually enduring a scratch. He wasn't scared, but certainly weary.

But then, Kroga lowered the hood from his cloak, revealing his terrifying molten, monstrous face.

He spoke telepathically:
I seek followers and you have been selected, I wish to cleanse this world of the order-devoted and a new kingdom of darkness will be erected. Dare deny my call and remain forever in the shadows as mongrels, or join my cause and become conquerors!

King Gorba couldn't understand the plain language, but the meaning behind the telepathic words were embedded deep into his psyche.
Impressed by Kroga's display of might and magic, he accepted and was infused with immortality, power, wisdom and future directions on the spot.

His task was to rally his forces and march upon the nearby town of Riverglen. The name and appearance of a certain human was very clearly engraved into his mind; a man named Rhoderick Rugnar. Destroy the town, kill Rugnar and this land will be yours.

Moments after Kroga Trinth left, King Gorba -- with his newfound knowledge and wisdom -- started gathering his forces and began to move out...
For unknown reasons at this point, Sir Rhoderick Rugnar has survived the obliteration of Castle Hilenika as the only survivor. With haste, he jumped into a small, neglected boat and made for the mainland. He intends to reach Lycida Hold, gather the military and chase against whoever is responsible for killing Vella Trinth. (He doesn't know it's Kroga yet at this point).
His small boat docked just a couple hours north of Port Yester and he starts moving immediately to the North.

However, the only way to cross the river is via the small town of Riverglen... (this is where the mission starts)

(the mission starts:)

At around midnight, Rhoderick finally reaches the outskirts of Riverglen after a two-week voyage. Tired and starved, he intends to eat and rest here for the night.
As he's standing on a small hill, he can rest his mind for a moment, overseeing the tranquil nature of his hometown. Just as the starts letting his guard down he spots a singular Kobold runs across a nearby small riverside road in the direction of the Town's Southern entrance. Sir Rugnar wonders what a vermin like that would be doing outside instead of crawling within a cave, but his thought is cut short by a massive raid of Gnolls and Kobolds, running along the path.

With haste, Sir Rugnar runs to the Southern entrance to stand with the guardsmen. He arrives just in time and together with the guards he repels wave after wave of invaders, until a huge Gnoll wielding a crossbow emerges from the forest. It shouts: "Grrr... for King Gorba!" and fires poisonous arrows that the Gnoll had stored in some rotting animal corpse.

Poisoned and wounded, the guards slay the last of the attackers just as the sun starts to rise. They explain to Rhoderick they've been holding off attackers for the entire night, but none of them made it through the gate. As the night turns to day, panicked villagers emerge from their surrounding homes, asking about the noise and the state of town.

Rhockerick calms the villagers down, recruits a portion of the guard and militia and opens the gate into town. After walking past just a handful of intact homes, the first signs of trouble within the town start to emerge.

Kobolds that have tunneled to Riverglen's Southern rock-quarry start to emerge from the ground. And just as a group of wounded guards and militia charge from the town square towards them. A group of Gnolls emerges from the nearby woods that corner them. Rhoderick jumps in with the guards he's acquired and saves the survivors from being butchered by a pincer attack.

Relieved to have made it out alive, they join Rhockerick and venture north to the town square...

The square is in utter ruins... Two out of 3 entrances have fallen...

He slays the invaders occupying the town and vows to hunt down this supposed "King" of theirs even if it's the last thing he'll do.

Upon reaching the Western entrance, a nasty surprise waits for him and his men. A massive siegecraft named Gorba's Wrath.

As Rhoderick and his men approach, the siegecraft fires and destroys the bridge, forcing him and the men to go North, where even more of Gorba's minions are located...

They clear the North and march onward to the South, past Riverglen's Southern Rock-quarry.

Once part this area, they engage and destroy the siegecraft. The few townsfolk and militia that survived in this area will help to re-assemble the siegecraft. They create a smaller, lesser version from the wreck and named it "Gurnar's Fury".

Rhoderick, now having gathered nearly all of the Town's survivors (mostly angry, savage farmers with torches and pitchforks), marches towards King Gorba's fort...

The walls are dotted with Gnoll archers, so he uses the re-assembled siegecraft to break open the gate. The gate slamming open causes the archers to retreat.

Rhoderick and the mod of angry survivors now engage King Gorba, awaiting inside...

Epic bossfight occurs
But lore-wise, it's angry farmers who cornered him and stabbed him to death with pitchforks.

Rhoderick returns to the hill he stood on at the start of the mission, with all of the townsfolk gathered around it as he declares Vella's death and the fall of Castle Hilenika. As the people turn to sorrow, he explains the town is beyond saving and that they should follow him north; to Lycida Hold for shelter and protection.

Without much choice, the sorrowful and mourning survivors follow him as he sets off (into chapter 3)...
