Is there any MDX/MDL to Quake MD2 converter program, code? That's also good, to import the mdx to a modeller, and export then to md2, but animations are important. I know, that MD2 isn't a bone animated format.
Is there any real reason to do this? the size of the models will be huge.
I know Milkshape can export to MDX or WC3's MDL (don't remember which), but if it can import too, then you can probably continue and save as MD2 there.
How would you handle materials? particle emitters? etc.
And again, you will have issues with frames.
"a classic md2 file is composed of 199 frames distributed in 21 animations"
"Maximum number of frames: 512"
WC3 models can easily have thousands of frames.
Support for MDX in that program seems to be very poor.
It shouldn't be hard to write a converter, but I just don't see how the formats have any compatibility between them in the first place.
