there isn't any converter for max scenes, the only thing you can do is open them with 3dsmax and export to the format you wish.

so can i just ask you guys to convert this model to .max to .gmax or .max to .3ds? here's the model

Go to File -> Export.

Change the format to .3ds.

Now you have the .max as a .3ds.
