Hey guys. I've been thinking about making an RPG style map lately. I haven't started work on what the story could be yet or what exactly I want to do with it, so I was looking for some ideas, pointers on what to do and what not to do.

I know its kind of basic but I'm curious as to what people would want to play and what they wouldn't want to play. I don't really need story ideas as I can do that on my own, but just general game play ideas and stuff like that.

appreciate it anyone who reply.

When I make it I plan on it only being a story written by myself and maybe help from others. I don't like basing stories or maps off of movies and other such things.

And it may include a save/load system if I decide to make it an online RPG. Not sure yet though I'd have to work out the exact play experience first.

Hmm... Try to create something without classes... Just start as Man or Woman. You have to create some custom inventory system or something like that(click on item = wear, inventory = Multiboard). And create some skills like "Demnic Magic" or "Holy Magic" and some "Marksman", "Blades", "Block", "Armor" etc. Your damage, chance to block, armor etc. will be based on your weapon/armor/shield and your skills with those things. Make it somewhere in mountains and create 4 or 5 cities some small villages and one holy and one demonic place to get some special spells.

Is this RPG multiplayer?
Or just a single-player RPG where we can use the custom save option (ALT + S in-game) ?

A-MUST have in RPG maps:
*Boss*
- make a cooler visual of the boss and have unique skills and non-boring battling-boss moment (when the boss drops to a certain % of its HP, it will move to another region where we have to hunt and kill it, while fighting its minion and stuff).

*Include custom items, spells, doodads, unit model*
- this is WHAT makes the RPG more fun to play and it differs from your RPG, to other RPG.

*Terrain*
- This is another element that helps you to create a 5-star RPG. Dungeons are an obligatory thing that should be implement in your RPG maps.

*EXP system and difficulty of the mobs*
- Player tends to play an epic RPG that offers a suitable EXP system and the difficulty of the mobs in the map. They will get tired and bored of it if the hero in the RPG takes a HUGE amount of EXP just to get a level up and also the balance mob system where a hero is suitable to fight against a certain mobs and easy leveling.

*Quests*
- Another important asset is a Quest. Quest can be such a many variation from helping a certain person in the map or just slay a boss. You can make a +gold / +EXP / grants item / unlock a new path / etc in the quest reward.

*User-friendly*
- Finally, make the map as user-friendly as possible for the player feel comfortable by the system in your RPG map. Try to create a simple and short explanation of the boss, customs, mob difficulties and quest.

Hope this helps you !
