Looking for newbie tutorials

I've been poking around with the editor trying to figure out what I can, but it's very overwhelming. Been trying to Google and look around for some sort of "Welcome to the editor, check this out" kind of thing that will get me familiar with the interface. What would be perfect is something with step by step instructions on making basic maps or something

Basically I'm just trying to get to the point where the forums are useful to me. At this point I just have no clue what anyone's talking about
