No, sorry I'm pretty sure what I said was completely within the rules as I wasen't swearing at another user (and even still I could probably get away with it if I had a good reason, which I usually do) I was swearing at a bot. If you don't like it then cover your eyes. Jesus.

Cover my eyes? You're one of the rudest members I have ever seen on a WC site.

I don't grudge. I divide members into three categories as towards what I think of them: People I like, Grey Area, Fucking Noobs. Guess which category your in.

I'm not even going to reply to one of your posts anymore.

This looks a lot like a recent technique that was used by the makers of an autosubmitter bot.

The "user" asks for a link to a program (usually by name) and a real user goes and finds one, posts it, hey presto! bona-fide link to their product from the forums own community.

What concerns me, is that the bots signing up now know to awnser "no" to the "are you a bot?" question on the registration form. :/

Taxi it's nothing to worry about. As I explained to Ralle on MSN earlier, all of these bots come from WC3sear, that's why they don't answer the question, because they didn't have to answer it when they registered with sear. It's only a matter of time until all of the bots that got imported are banned.

Funny thing is wc3sear did not have many bots at all even in offtopic there were not this many. . .
And what is this question thing anyway?
Also do you think people are fools now days?
They simply get chineses to spamm theses messages to boards by paying them 1£ a day and an IP spoof to do it.

To stop bots you need some kind of key that is needed to post. . .
But that also annoys players as well. . . . . . .
I say a simple answer is look for / promote a mod who is willing to delete theses threads as soon as possiable. Since no matter how strong the bot protection is, bots will still get through since many bots are now people payed to spamm thoughs messages.

Okay, why the hell would you pay a chinese man money to do what a bot can do much faster and efficiently for free? That makes no sense. These absolutely cannot be the Hives bots? My proof: The Hive created a system to deal with bots. During the registration process we added a question that says "Are you a bot". It is autoset on yes. Since bots are only adapted to using the defaults for all of the registration options they continued and skipped over. When your answer is yes, however, you cannot complete the registration process so the bots get stuck in a loop there. Further proof is to look at the profile information. The Hive profile questions ask you what server you play on and what your favourite warcraft 3 race is. I'm assuming that
WC3Sear asks you what server you play on and what your favourite organization is (ie kirin tor) because this what all of the bot profiles are like. Also all of these bots joined in December, and what happened in December? The merge. The only thing we can do is wait them out and ban them. All of the bots got imported and since no more can join we just have to wait until they all show their ugly faces and have banned them all. This is more of an annoyance then a problem. There is nothing to be worried about and no further precuations, aside from admin vigilance, need to be taken.

What the fuck....

1. The chinese have their internet monitored by thier government, they are only giving access to chinese sites or on very rare occasions non forgien. Seriously, do you see alot of people posting in chinese and yet there are so many?

2. Bots are created from a program which attachs to several forums, THEY ARE NOT FRICKING PEOPLE.

3. Wc3sear had all these bots, but they were deleted and they botted in the Gnomergen project section or something, and there was at least 2 bots a day.

4. What i do find very odd though its that alot of the new bots have joined up early..so ...i dont know.

1. LOOK AT THIS BOTS JOIN DATE! YES ITS THIS MONTH!
2. Kirin-tor is a HIVE question that asks you what your favorite organization is!
3. I did not register with the hive and my join date is my wc3sear join date (Jan 2005)
4. You realy think bots are that dumb? they obviously read and change the answer to stop that. . .
Old bots might fall for it but new ones even strugle to be fooled by the funny angular letters in a box trick.
By the way it defaults to kirin-tor for some reason and also some people choose it because they like it. . .

I recomend adding things like angular letter boxes so that a player creating an account has to enter the letters in the box before it can be created and more anti bot questions.

If my theory is right then all anti bot protection is usless since humans that know english will always be able to bypass any bot sucerity (unless they are dumber than the bots. . .).

And yes I do see alot of chineses sites and hosters on games just that google and yahoo seem to filter most of them out by default and in games they hog entire servers.
The reason why in many american games there are not many Chineses is that many of them play country realsed games that never get translated or realsed outside their country.
Note that im not so sure that thoughs funny named games are Chineses or or Japaneses in games and on the web since both of them show up as junk on screen (like éèéBDFD%//*()èé!!à£)

Dr Super "Good"...your making yourself looks stupid.
You did read my post right? Its obvious you havnt and the email activation wasnt to stop bots, it was to stop people from accessing other peoples accounts if your read it at wc3sear when it was announced. and nah duh, you think the people who made the bots dont upgrade their bot system?

Due to "site technicalites" I was delayed with my post so although I started writing before your post you posted before I had finished so I was unawair you posted at the time I wrote the orignal message. . .
I updated it

Anyway how do you know that there are not people posting theses things?
They are a type of advertising and adverts can make money.
And by the whole lot of new bots joining like this one I say that the bots are not dumb enough to fall for your anti bot program weather they be human or AI.

Adding 2 more questions should stop any possiability of bots joining. . .
1. A three question anti bot question like the one now but with 3 answers
2. A question that has a random question but in a picture shows which answer to pick (no answers have text just a button)

That should fool bots even more than now to make sure that no bots can get in and is not too much effor (some sites have 8 questions like that to stop bots)

Ok now I have no idea where the hell you got this idea about Chinese people from, but when we were using the thing ralle had made up to stop the bots, there were no bots coming through, at all. Ralle then turned it off, since the bots had stopped comming and so we could stop having to look through every member that registered. So if it comes to it I supose we could get that old system back, but if we did only one question would be required, 8 is just stupid.

Also I would have to agree, that these bots did only start coming back after the merge with wc3sear.

You are a massive idiot. Our old antibot system worked fine. Bots are not intelligent and are only coded for the default vB settings. There is absolutely not a chinese person doing it, that makes no fucking sense whatsoever. Honestly a bot can post on thousands of sites at once constantly. What can a chinese guy do? The bot is free you have to pay the chinese guy. These ar WC3Sear's bots, not the Hive's and there is nothing to worry about. If we get any more bots from the Hive, then just put the security question in again and we'll be fine.

PS The reason we have so many new bots joining is because we imported a whole shit loadm of them with the merge. THESE BOT'S ARE NOT INTELLIGENT.

Yeah yeah delt with, you people DO know that WoW TBC was released recently and I am having fun leveling a pirate Belf Lock?

Oh, and just to thingy things up, these aren't WC3Search's bots. They're the Hives. How the heck it has so many I don't know, maybe someone needs to poke the system so it confuses them more

No sir, these are WC3Search bots. You know why? The profile information they enter is not the Hive's. It is WC3Sear's. The Hive has been bot free for many months now. PS Yes BC was released, why do you think I haven't been posting much lately? :p

I've seen this name elsewhere on other forums. Posting on, infact, the same date, with the same message. Google blog search the username and you see multiple comments from the 17th of January:

http://blogsearch.google.com/blogsearch?hl=en&client=news&q=ThzinChang+&btnG=Search+Blogs

It's most likely this bot did sign up to the HIVE and not WC3search. Even more likely once I checked the registration and found that the "are you a bot?" dropdown question has gone from the registration form. The only thing in its place is a CAPTCHA image. Many of which can be solved by an automated process, or by other, more subversive methods.

Yes i'm not sure, but as Bob said previously, all of these bots just showed up when the merge happened, so its assumed that these were imported from the wc3sear user database. Up until the merge we'd been 100% bot free for many, many months after a little crisis we abolished them permanently. If these do turn out to be the Hive's bots then the admins would once again set up the question system until they all gave up and went home.
