Heya Everyone,

I'm currently looking for a terrain maker, i'm the creator of Desert Battle it's an AOS with tank owning is own firing system, and the main downside of the game is the "terrain gameplay", it's also possible to reduce the number of side, or even the global map design. But i have absolutly no experiencies on terrain making of AOS (as the map shown it's basicly a tri-way, very classic and not interressant at all).

Hope i will get some volunteer to help me.

Regards,
Wakoo

Actual Terrain Screenshoot

EDIT: Look forward post if you want to help me about the new map !
EDIT2: The Website www.wakoo-forge.net has been released, and the all new design is in last page, i'm still looking for your fedback.

Oh didn't see the "Request" Section, but you are right i will try to enhance it myself.
About my own level of terraining i would like to directly get good result, with the help of veteran mapper. I made many "Medium-quality" terrain before, and still stuck at this level, thanks for the answer.

if that blank area at the right will not be playable, just remove it.

If you wanna to make some terrain variation, on some areas, make some rockway formations such this:
On center a Rock Spire
arround the rock spire, rocks (with scale 1.20 to 1.40)
arround these rocks, place rocks with lower size (scale 0.40 to 0.80)
and then some shurub arround them. (I will post a screenshoot on firday to explay it better)

You are still using thats blizzards tanks and helicopters models? They are soo "old" for your map style.
On friday i will post some better models for you.

The right area will be an alternate battlefield to get to the ennemy base even if the middle isn't friendly controlled.

When you are talking about rock it's the rock of the sea theme ? or the destructible one ? It could be awesome for the right side.
Else i didn't add any model, because i don't like large map it's a good plus for the popularity to have low sized one. But if it add some change between the spawned one, and the one controlled by the player, it's a good thing, it will depend of the weight of every model.

Heya Lunatechnick,
I will follow d4f.Chaos advice and make it myself but with your tips of course ;)

Heya Ham Ham,
I can't wait to see what model i can import, i made a kind of "Rocks Decoration" in the right, it don't look very nice, i will wait to see how to make it right.

I was uploaded a terrain sample, with a nice tank model.
I dont know the name of the author of this, I was found it on a map on epicwar. a map without author full of blank terrain. But I have found this tank.

I hope then you enjoy of my terrain.

Never forget to use "Calculate Shadows and Save Map when you finish you map.

Well Ham Ham my map design look pretty... bad after seeing your work, i will try to enhance the rock effect of each base and right area with your tips. And i didn't even know about the "Calculate shadow and save map" it's my 4th map and i didn't EVEN see it before... About the tank imported, i don't know how to import it to the map without importing every vehicle of the game, cause it's really incompatible.

The next version of the map will be released this week end, i don't know if i can contact you to send you the map to get your opinion with "in editor" view. Do you got some free time ?

When you finish the map terrain, click on "File" then "Calculate Shadows and Save Map"
This will create very realistic shadows arround cliffs and doodads.
You have seen in my map lots of complex shadows coming from the doodads?
This is the "Calculate Shadows and Save Map" resource. It will create shadows to any doodad and cliff on your map.

I dont have understanded the model problem, can you explain it beter?

When you finish the map, send it to me via pm.

The problem is that i can't just import that one, cause it's look like very modern and the other not, if the map become popular i will replace all model by imported one with all model we can find in the net (goliath, etc...), i really thank you for your help, i will make last modification on map's design and send it to you.

I'm back, more than half of the fedback say to me that the map look very bald, i actually can't make terrain variation in the battlefield due to using Neutral Victime and Extra Neutre has ally on North and South team, so the building can't be declared as building(else the creep "come back" to spawning point), it's just unit without movement. That make the game 6v6, but make the gameplay very "different", maybe i will back to an old 5v5 with 2 computer player, but it's allways frustrating to downgrade your own map.

Here is some screenshoot of actual terrain, i'm open to any suggest.

Mmmh yes, and ? The first version of Desert Battle (before the revised) was released before the first tank war(it was early Februar 2006), and it's not the same system of firing and even less power managemant than tank war/tank commander/etc... And there is many thing commun to both map, and other that don't. That's why it's allways good to have many variants of a style of gameplay(bship was the first no ?). Tank war is just more popular, that's all (i don't call my map "tank war" like, cause it's not)
