hey buddy. I have a great map i'm working on and it's being a big pain in my a*ss because i never finnish it :( ....

It's about card play inside warcraft, pretty original and fun, and it has very complicated triggers. I would like to have 1 or 2 guys helping me out. I have one in proces of being chosen and you could be the other one. 8)

Well technically, I don't think those games can be considered real card games (in reference to the Card Shuffle that I've seen) considering there is no turns and there are only two types of cards: spells and summons.

The reason a card game would be a good idea for wc3 is that in a regular card game people can cheat and imagination may be limited. I think that people watch the card game television shows partly because of the monsters they illustrate. Now to put yourself into a television show, that would be cool to some extent.

this is like the third card map idea ive seen...its already been done people...mouse.

only three maps of cards in a very small number considering there are thousand rpg, hero, footman, quests..etc. A game of cards is quite original.

Then i agree with KI because a card game inside wc3 can involve good graphics and cool stuff. Although it does have only spell and creature cards only. Anyway this can't stop me of making this map, which, in the begining
was a kind of challenge for me.

i am working, partime, on a cardgame too.
and i have to say: there is a way to include more than only 2 types of cards.

if you now Magic - the gathering, than you know that there is a whole bunch of speltypes. i like to create them all. And i already did
  • summons
  • instans
  • sorceries
  • artifact - equipment
  • artifacts in generall
  • enchantments

and there is also a reason for it to have no turns:
i meself am faszinated by the possibility to cerate a cardgame which works in 'realtime' therefore i set meself the 'rule' to consider every n seconds of gametime as one turn of the cardgame.
that makes it possible to still use the term 'turn' while not hindering players to act when they seem fit.
besides: i udnerstand cardgames as a kind of duel between mages or other parties, which is, to be easier ruled, broken down into turns of actions. Therefore undooing this is not against the idea of cardgames but much more like in favor of them.
(i'm NOT speaking about all those 'facionable' cardgames like Pokémon, Yu Gi Oh and what the heck they are called too, i'm speaking about the good old classic ones - MTG, Lord of the five rings, ...)

i forgot to say that my map does work with turns. I don't know if weather it is best to make it with or without turns but, anyway, in my case i found it bit complicated thing to do with triggers. Many things have to be considered...

There are a few things people may or may not be adding that I'd like to suggest.

-Field zones that give bonuses to particular types of monsters would be nice, especially when you can actually create the climate with triggers. You can even create some random doodads with no collision. I'd say that would be a pretty cool addition, considering the last one I played had dull terrain.

These ideas will only work if you are going to make a card shuffle that doesn't involve turns.

-Trap cards (yes, these first two ideas do come from Yugioh) that can be placed in front of casters, such as walls and mines, or even a non-moving, non-attacking monster that can have an autocast spell such as slow or curse.

-Specific movement controls such that when you select a unit that is sent (uncontrolled by you) and type in a command (ex. -up) and make your monster react accordingly. Or you could even do something that I am implementing in my own map; you could make triggers so that when you select a unit that you summoned, you can control it until you deslect it. This could create more strategy and skill involved with the microing. With this, you can even give the summoned unit a spell that can only be casted by a player, therefore making micro necessary to win. But this idea may ruin the game play for people who like to sit back and click on their inventory to win.

Also, another thing I'd really like to see from one of these maps is a multitude of combinations that players can make with their specific deck of cards. Making cards that work together really makes put the game on a much higher level of interest. For a very simple example, you could have a necromancer deck with a card to kill all units that have health below 33% and a card that can summon dead units from all dead bodies on the field. That's what players truely anticipate when drawing from their decks.

i do not need this help currently (or very much for that matter) but i wouldnt mind (just a little) help on my tower defence, the corrupted td v1.0.0b. this would basically involve working on skins, models and icons and probably the bonus feature, a maze in the direct center. (going leftmost side of the screen size to the rightmost side of the screen size) Making it a pretty big maze. In truth iver only done about 40% of it and wouldnt mind creative ideas.(I use only one idea per about 10%-20% of the max size.)if anyone can also tell me how to create that selection board (found in most mauls and some tds and also the infamous battleships :D ) that lets you click what you want. I just want it to change the difficulty to w/e i want. :D yea..so thats basically what my map would need. Of course i could do most of this by myself but hey, im lazy :D ! More details if you pm me. I will also let anyone work on my spawns for the td (i have 21) im lazy and it takes a long time to think of new monsties and doing that trigger work for 10 players...Yup so thats bout it!

i, or better we (i already work together with neXor), could use some people, helping us to create our cardgame.
(its not the MtG i spoke about above - its some more simple cardgame we use to see what is possible - nevertheless we want to get at least to the level of 'CardShuffle')

so if you are interested, i would like you to contact me - via icq or mail - both stands in my profile, feel free to use it.

PS: we will post a 'konzept-thread' as soon, as it comes to the open testings...
