i am working, partime, on a cardgame too.
and i have to say: there is a way to include more than only 2 types of cards.
if you now Magic - the gathering, than you know that there is a whole bunch of speltypes. i like to create them all. And i already did
- summons
- instans
- sorceries
- artifact - equipment
- artifacts in generall
- enchantments
and there is also a reason for it to have no turns:
i meself am faszinated by the possibility to cerate a cardgame which works in 'realtime' therefore i set meself the 'rule' to consider every n seconds of gametime as one turn of the cardgame.
that makes it possible to still use the term 'turn' while not hindering players to act when they seem fit.
besides: i udnerstand cardgames as a kind of duel between mages or other parties, which is, to be easier ruled, broken down into turns of actions. Therefore undooing this is not against the idea of cardgames but much more like in favor of them.
(i'm NOT speaking about all those 'facionable' cardgames like Pokémon, Yu Gi Oh and what the heck they are called too, i'm speaking about the good old classic ones - MTG, Lord of the five rings, ...)
