Layering or something...

Im trying to make a loading screen by mixing a bunch of pictures together so they look like they wernt just cut out with MS paint. I tried some layering thing with gimp, (didnt turnj out to well) and i tried a few outher things. Does anyone know how to mix pictures and stuff how i need it?

You need to fade your pics in and out of each other. In gimp, use the lasso tool, and cut a good way around the picture. Next, Get the eraser, and set the opacity to around 5-15%, and slowly edge your way around the picture with the eraser.
