Kobold Candle Altar

This bundle is marked as pending. It has not been reviewed by a staff member yet.
Let there be light

I wanted the stone one with columns for myself, but some people like kobold stuff more Orcish, so I made the other version for them.

I'd like to know what people think of the colours. The candles were originally blue, but it was a bit excessive.

Oh interesting!

Wonderful job on the Altar overall. Obviously candles are a big deal to Kobolds (even though all Altars have statues), and it's well-made... I guess I'm just a little... concerned? It looks like a small thing blown up really big, without all the detail that would come from being that large. Just a bit out of place. I'm not sure if I'm articulating that right...

That being said, the candle flame is wonderful, and the rest of the structure is very good too. I can't pick which I like more, but the Orcish one might be more generically useful to others (sans the Candle); I could see it fitting for various Orc tribes, or Trolls.

It's probably a texture thing, more detailed candle and stonework textures would likely help.

Without the candle I don't think the rugged one would be particularly interesting/different from existing stuff tbh. It's an after thought coz I know my Kobold vision doesn't align exactly with everyone else :p.

That's a good example of the wonky build perspective though; it would be better to rotate those spikes and banners so all banners are visible from the default view, even if it made the model asymmetric from a "realistic" view.
I did that a bit with the columns, and you can see it a lot with the Night Elf Altar

Candle Altar is kinda believably sized, similar with Human. UD and NE look more like a larger building shrunk down.

I think another cute idea would have been to make a sort of kobold statue of liberty in the middle, with the torch like a candle. All the others all have statues.
But that's a lot more work, and maybe too ridiculous for my taste.

I actually love the "kobold statue of liberty" idea; it gets the (""requisite"") statue in there but keeps the candle concept.

I decided I'm gonna redo the candle texture, but it shares the texture with Geomancer (and eventually Candle Priest), so I prob wont update until the revamped geomancer is done. More detail should help the altar look less like a small thing scaled up.
Kobold race should arisee!!
I'm working on it!
Slowly.

"Rise up Kolbuld'ai, rise up!"
