Hi fellow hivers!
This is probably an supid question but is my amd phenom 8650 triple core processor compatible with windows seven? if not is there anything i can do to fix it?
But you can still download a "test" version (if there is somethign like that otherwise you will have to find a version which might not be completely legal)
and try it.
I have now removed alot of crappy processes and startup programs and restarted the comp. its now hovering between 15-20 =/ I have no streaming services on. I also downloaded a driver for the processor from amd site, but when i try to install it it says its incompatible with the operative system.
Download, extract, run the .exe and it should tell you whether or not the hardware you have is compatible with the software you have.
Also, according to the FAQ on their website, Windows 7 and Vista "Task Manager" doesn't display the correct number of 'cores' that the processor has - and this results in it showing a higher CPU usage than normally. If you feel that it is going sluggishly, and not just showing the wrong usage - then I guess the only other thing I can suggest is:
Are you running Windows 7 in 32 or 64 bit mode? Make sure ALL your drivers are 64 bit versions, (or 32 depending on what you're running), this includes the Chip-Set drivers for your motherboard. They should be on the CD, or try the manufacturers website to get later versions. Let me know if this helps!
I used to use Opera, then I got used to Chrome's address bar functions (hit tab, then you can google-search that website, etc)... But I think Chrome is crashing on this website, which is annoying. (only crashes when i'm writing/editing a post)...
Chrome is from google.. and you know what that means.. if you HAVE to use that browser please use the original one google "stole" the code from (its open source so it is not stolen)
Stop advertising opera, you are giving completly biased opinions which are of no use to man or beast.
As you have freshly installed W7, you might find that the high CPU load is caused by the search indexing tool running and building a search index of your computer. Additionally there might be hundreds of updates to install which will chew up your processor for a while. Also make sure it is displaying all 3 processors in the task manager.
If after a few days have passed and it still has not reduced in CPU usage, find out what module is actually using that CPU time via running the adimistrator task manager and sorting processes by CPU usage. The one at the top will be idle process while the ones below will be what is eating your CPU time. Google those tasks to find what they are and try and adjust them acordingly.
Another thing that sprung to mind is you must install a graphic card driver. Until you do your desktop will be software rendered and thus chew a lot of processor time.
