Is it possible to change faction colours in the campaign?

Howdy lads,

I really just want to set the colour of all of the playable factions to brown for the campaign, I feel as though I would enjoy the campaign even more than my last ten or so play-throughs!

Thanks so much, if this is the wrong place to post this, I'm deeply sorry!

Yea you can do this using triggers

Player - change color of player 1 (Red) to Brown, changing color of existing units

I am so lost trying to use triggers, do I have to open the campaign in a campaign editor or what's the go? Could you please point me in the right direction?

Open the editor, go to triggers (letter a on the top toolbar) or f4 click the white folder on top or press ctrl t then set whatever you want as the event and set what I pointed out as the action and give me some rep for helping you :)

Sigh, I can't seem to open my WorldEdit as the Warcraft III Word Editor encountered the "Unable to open 'War3.mpq'" error.

  • Player Group - Pick every player in (All players) and do (Actions)
    • Loop - Actions
      • Player - Change color of (Picked player) to Brown, Changing color of existing units

Are you sure you have the "War3.mpq" installed inside your Warcraft 3 directory? Also, make sure you close any MPQ viewer/editor such as War3 Model Editor before opening the World Editor.

Update your Warcraft III to 1.31.1. If you have already then you may need to reinstall. This error is commonly the result of having multiple copies of Warcraft III on your system since it confuses the registry as to which is meant to be the proper install and not a copy/backup.

This file no longer exists. It was removed a few patches ago when Warcraft III moved to CASC.

If that file no longer exists, could I ask please how you would go about changing your colour to brown in the campaign?

I don't think so, I myself have three Warcraft.3 copies and the editor works just fine no matter what version I open it.

I know that, I was asking because I thought he had an older version of Warcraft 3 and the file is missing.

I would try replacing a game data file by enabling local files in the registry and placing the file in the appropriate folder of the Warcraft III install. If this works I do not know. I am guessing it might not even be possible.

If you want to play modified versions of the campaign where team colour is different then open up World Editor, select File -> Open Map... and then press the Blizzard Campaign tab. You can select and load individual campaign maps here. For each campaign map you want to play with modified colour you can add a trigger than 10 or 60 seconds after map initialization it changes the player colors to the desired color for all players. One can then save the map locally and play it.
