Internet Speed Help

I recently took this internet test to see my internet connection but it doesnt reflect what i have been experiencing
Lately my internet is slow and i would like to know how to improve it.
I was playing wc3 the other day and it said my dl speed was 10 kbs per second. Also, i have had lag spikes periodly while playing.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

The test comes out fine but when i play warcraft i am barley able to play due to periodic lag spikes and i have a download speed of 10KBS/SECOND now can someone please help me.

Are you sure you're not playing in a server that's located at the other side of the world?

Your download speed also depends on the server from which you download (ie the host of a map).

Lag spikes could come form both the connection and your computer. Are you running a lot of programs while playing? Also, torrents and other downloads will drain a lot of bandwidth.

This happens with EVERY game i join and players have a 1-2 to even 3 second delay when i host
EDIT: also i am on US East and i play on US East
EDIT2: sometimes i have hive running in background and a autorefresh and i dont have torrents

Well, from what your speed test tells me, you've got a bad ping (could be for several reasons.. ) and your upload speed is unsuitable for hosting.

Anyway, I just tested the server you're connecting to with your speed test (Philadelphia) and realized it does indeed not provide very good results.. but even so, from Norway, I achieve a ping slightly higher than yours, with far more distance.



Try the New York server, even if it's further away.. I got a lot better results with it, and the better your ping, the more accurate result (unless you're testing how your connection works in certain distances) ..

Is there anyway to increase upload speeds and decrease ping.
Also, i am going through a linksys router that i share with 2 other computers if that is any help.

Well if you're sharing the internet, it depends a lot on what those other two are doing, or rather, how much of the bandwidth they consume. Increasing the upload speed has to do with your ISP. The ping is mainly distance.. look, take a ping test as well, to see how your connection performs (packet loss etc) - pingtest.net

You can only DL maps as fast as the host ULs them... Looking at your UL rate you can guess why your DL is slow...

Basically, I can DL maps at 200-300 KB/sec from THW yet if I host the other people can DL only at like 10-20 due to crappy ADSL having a capped UL rate of like 1/30 the DL rate. Your connection looks good, but remember most people have like only 1/10 or 1/30 of your speed in both DL and UL.

Thus it is only logical you will DL slowly. If you are downloading from a fiber connected bot on the other had, should be near instant.

Can someone please explain to me why i get lag spikes every 30 seconds in warcraft?

Normally, it's just 50kbps....

My max is only 0.90 Mbits...
In Indonesia, 2MBPS IS amazing...
We must pay around US$ 18 for 1 GB limit, and 100kbps speed...
