Its a good start, but the whole general area of both the icons seems to lack in visible texture. Meaning, that if its paper, i cant really tell that its paper by its texture, i can only tell by its shape that it is. If you had shaped it any other way i would not have belived that it was paper.
In regards to the scroll, it lacks in a little bit of visible shape this is probably due to the lack of shading along some of the curls on the edges of the paper. Try to define them a bit more to make it stand out and make it look more realistic. And please fix the edges of the paper. If you are going for an older look, make it look like burntish edges and not like somone dipped the edges in crushed bran flakes. And take note that to make it look more realistic, you have to make it look like its either on the VERY edges or it moves along the inside. because what you have at the moment is an even burnt edge. which is not a very realistic thing to look at.
All I can say about the letter is to follow my advice in the beginning paragraph and to reduce the black lines, and replace them with highlights and shading. It is not a good idea to have solid thick black lines, as they decrease the look of volume and therfore make it more cartooney than needed.
