I don't have enough skill to split the sphere into fragments, and probably somehow simulate their fall (in blender?). But I'm currently making a second version, where the Death animation will resemble a small explosion, using particles.No shattering into little shards?

The death animation on IceShell2 is really good IMO and a solid compromise.
