How to install Collada to Maya 8.5 PL

I use Maya 8.5 PL (personnel Learning, it's a free version of maya, just a few unneeded special effects are disabled, such as hair and cloth physics)

When trying to install Collada, it tells me it doesn't detect Maya 8.5 on this system. It tells me I can alternately manually install the plugin.
My question is; How would I install that plugin? I tried setting the installation path of Collada inside of Maya's plugin folder, but I don't think it did anything.

I'm brand new to modeling (I can make very basic models with no texture) and don't know too much on plugins or how to install them XD

I have no idea if maya is compatible with wc3 or that plugin your talking about, so...your using maya for wc3 modeling or just modeling in general?

Modeling in general. I have decided to simply get maya 8.5, not learning edition *cough isn't spending anything cough*

Well, not many people here use maya, your the only one that is near close to it that iv heard of, but im VERY sure if you use google and find a maya based forum I'm very sure people there will help you.
