How to import skins and still keep the normal unit?

Not sure if I'm correct but it should go as followed:

You export the model which should use the skin in game to a location.
After that, you import that model under another name, for example 'Hero2.mdx'.
Then, import your skin and rename it to 'Hero2.blp'.

But like I said, I'm not 100% sure if it works, but around this way it should.

This won't work, you'll need to edit the model and rename the textures it uses. Just extract the model with some program like War3 Model Editor. Be sure to save it as .mdl. Then open the file in a text editor (Notepad should do), and change the name of the texture you are using to something different (like HeroPaladin2.blp). You are looking for this:

Textures 5 {
	Bitmap {
		Image "units\Human\HeroPaladin\Heropaladin.blp",
	}
Then convert the model to .mdx, import it (with any name other than the original) and the custom skin (with the name you wrote in the model)
