How do I attach stuffs to my units?

How do I attach items such as the one in the link above to my units?
I followed the tutorial, but I ended up with my unit becoming that item instead.
And I don't get the portrait part.
Please help. Thanks!

Just import both models, changing the path to whatever you want, ending with a mdx. For example- Elvengreatsword.mdx and then use it was an attachment using spells in world editor (Art-target)

And for the portrait- Elvengreatsworditem.mdx It basically serves as an item, like the treasure chest normally seen in warcraft. It's what you see lying on the floor.
