How do i set the damage of a unit to what it is now plus 5?

Copy and paste an Item Damage Bonus ability, rename it, set damage bonus to 5, then add it to your unit using a trigger.

If you don't want a green bonus +5 to show up, you might want to use the Grimoire of Souls item. It has an ability "Item permanent bonus damage".

yes, but that is permanent.

By the lack of info on the OP, I assume he wants to add it permanently. If he doesn't, he can STILL simply add the same ability with a negative damage bonus to undo ...

Well the way he worded it, sounds more like he'd want the +5 to show.
But that's just me.
