How can i make the map bigger ?

How can i make the map bigger than 256 width and height ?
I check the tutorials and didnt find one . I know that you can make it bigger but don't know how .

there is tool that allows you to have about 400 width, but then you must have 100 height...and there is advanced world editor that allows about 400x400, but in it you can't change global options and stuff like that. Unfortunately i don't remember it's name ;(
