Hi. I've been on and off working on several WC3 maps, though never completed or came very far on any. So now I decided to work hard on this one and for once actually succeed. So I had a question here.

First off, is it possible to make a completely new model, i.e units and effects, and use in WE? And in that case, what programs and guides might help me with this. Or if it is only possible to modify existing ones, and in that case what programs and guides for that?
I want to know this so that I can plan a bit more, so I actually know how much is possible to do.

That is the first thing I can really think of for the moment, some of my other questions I've already found answers for here. I will throw in more questions later on here when I come to think of more. My map is basically only on the drawing table for the moment, and although the terrain is preliminary finished, I still have lots of things to think over to make it a more original map, since the basic idea is borrowed.

Anyways, Would be great with some help here.

Sincerely,

Well, I have been looking a bit there, but I'm not sure where to begin xD

Anyways, thanks, now I atleast know it is possible and then it is just to take the time and fix all the information and knowledge to do so ^.^

EDIT:
Just came to think about another question after reading that B-net max file size is 4Mb.. Does using Jass instead of GUI lower the map size much? Just so I know if it is worth actually taking the time and learn how to use Jass?

Welcome to hive...

1. Programs used to model are:

3D modeling tools:

3ds max (for wc3 use version 4/5)
milkshape 3D
gmax (3ds max light),
...blender... (good tool, open source but i don't know whether useful for wc3)

2. The size problem...

There are several "map protectors" which make it unable to open the map in we...
But they also remove gui datas and other senseless things from your map to make it smaler... try to search google or try my link
