Lost Coast
Introduction
Heya all, this the first map I've made on my own, and I'd like some feedback, oppinions and bug reports. I know it isn't some big deal of a map but I really believe it has some potential and I find it quite enjoyable. It took around 20-25 hours to reach its' current stage (yeah, I'm quite slow) and at the moment I believe it resemples pretty much the gameplay of the final version as planned. But anyway, enough with the introductory, take a look at it yourselves. All of your comments are welcome and much appreciated.
General/Terrain
The map is a simple combination of Hero Arena and Capture the Flag. It takes place on a seemingly remote and desolate coast. The terrain is quite simple, features two bases, a main path connecting them with a fountain of life in between, and the rest of the map is filled with trees, creating something that resemples a forest. It features many possible juke spots and two way gates connected to each other. The map is surrounded by water and is crossed by a small, walkable river. Scattered around the map are some minor cosmetic doodads. Although the terrain is finished I'm not really satisfised as there are some areas that seem to not attract players and are almost all the time 'dead'. Except from that, some people complain about the location of the bases not being clear at the first view. Reterraining the entire map or even creating a map with similar gameplay and heroes yet entirely different terrain is not unlikely.
Game Modes/Objectives
Every player controls one hero, initially picked from a small pool. Each hero has unique stats and abilities, focusing around a specific theme (nature/elements/sword/mace etc). As a result heroes are linked to each other in rock/paper/scizzors fashion, and have strict roles in the game. The purpose of the game and its' winning condition is to steal the enemy's flag and, while keeping yours safe, return it to your base. Each flag capture will give some points to the capturing team. When a team reaches a specific number of points it will have won the game. It's also possible to be rewarded with a minor amount of points for each hero kill your team scores, if you choose the Deathmatch mode at the beginning of the game. Each team's base is also defended by two towers. Their purpose is mainly to scout, thus forcing the flag carriers to choose a longer route if they plan to remain unseen. But except from scouting the towers provide nearby allies with a command aura while also dealing average damage, to discourage players from fighting under enemy towers.
Heroes
Currently there are these 8 heroes available; Blademaster, Executioner, Monk, Ranger, Druidess, Elementalist, War Priest, Illusionist. Out of these, the Ranger and Druidess are still incomplete (missing spells), and I'm still looking for appropriate icons for the Executioner's spells. By the time the map reaches its' final version there should be enough heroes to fill a single tavern. *Will add a short description for each hero later*
Items
There aren't any items implemented yet, but some unique active and passive items based on recipes are planned.
Credits
7 out of the 8 current heroes' models are taken directly from Hive, as well as a really big percentage of the total spells and systems currently being used. Also many ideas on spells and gameplay are originally seen on other games and I should not be credited for them. Here is the full list of all the people's work I've practically stolen and because I'm a jerk I might even be forgetting someone;
What I need help with?
I actually need help with a lot of stuff, but just stating your oppinions on the map would be cool. Now if you liked the map, or even if you didn't, but feel like wasting more time with it, you could give me ideas on more heroes, find me some decent spells to complete (or replace) the current ones or even actively participate in its' completion. Anyway I hope this doesn't die the thread list and thank you all for your timez <3
