I am unsure what you mean... Do you mean to make it so he will have to carry around an armor, sword, shield so on in inventory.. and when he does it appears on the model?
If so you need to attach it, meaning you have to give it an ability which makes the model for the item appear in the correct spot (which you decide using attachments. -head -origin similar).
If you meant how to limit it so he can only use one sword at a time for instance, then triggers is needed. Check item type when pick up... e.g
