Help lowering number of vertexes

Hi, the tittle kind of summarizes the topic. A friend of mine made some models for me. They work very well in-game, but some of them exceed the size of 400kb which is a big problem because all of them tend to weight 2.5mb without textures :S.

I've seen them in War3ModelEditor and as far as I can tell they have a lot of vertexes and i assume this can be an issue in model size.

I would like to know if there is a way to make them smaller (i tried using mdx squisher but strangely it has no effect on them :S)
