Help Identifying parts of an image

Hey, basically in another forum I came across this, which the author claims to have drawn from scratch. I feel that the face resembles something I know I have seen before, but I can't quite recall it. Hence I figured I'll ask the people at Hive if they got a good idea.

Hmm perhaps - I kept something along the lines of alien or predator - but nothing there really fits.

Yea, and would have integrated it into the image. Also the background seems to be another image. But well, can't figure it out why its so familiar.

Ah, yea thats why - Have played Darksiders so I thats the reason I knew it. Thanks a bunch, knew I could count on the people from Hive and their skills at identifying such works
