PLEASE NOTE:
The map that was uploaded before was an incorrect non-fully updated version. I have fixed this now, and the current map available now is the proper Heart of Winter v3.0L

I am sorry for any inconvienience caused by this uploading error.

---------------

A terrible shadow spreads before the lands of Loralonde as barbaric warbanners are raised during the day and demonic creatures stalk the night...

And as a hidden enemy weaves a dangerous plot of deception and betrayal, alliances are sundered and broken. The noble fortress of Torthoril seems doomed. Who shall answer the call in this darkest hour...?

---------------
This is a linear rpg of epic proportions and a twisting and surprising storyline by TraurigRitter (aka PGConqueror).

Features:
-A storyline and adventure spanning an average of six hours, four chapters, and dozens of quests
-An epic sized map of detail, weather, and ambience
-10 Unique Classes, each with a different role within an adventuring party
-39 Customised or Unique Skills, each with 5 levels
-Customisable Stat Increase System
-Item Requirement System
-7 Difficulty Levels
-Saving/Loading Uniques
-Hundreds of New Items, from Bows, Armour, Shields, Swords, Staves, Robes, to Rations
-Normal Items, Premium Items, Rare Items, Unique Items
-More than 40 'Unique' Items that can be saved/loaded
-More than 8 different types of shops just in the main fortress alone!
-Many hidden areas, secrets, and bonuses
-And most importantly... ale can be purchased from the tavern!

An excellent RPG for roleplayers and team orientated players, especially for those who like styles along the lines of Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, etc rather than open or powergaming rpgs.

nice map
Criticism:
- there are no town portals or waypoints. after 1 1/2 hours I got bored on running arround all the time
- It's to linaer. this is not grave ( my map is the same ;) ) but a bit mor possebilties where to walk would be nice. just some points where the way splits and one way leads into a dead end or sth like that :)

Why had this map recently got 6.40 rating? It's not perfect but it deserves a higher value. At least 7.5 cause it is made very good. I agree with Dark Harlequin - no teleports, and it is too straight. There's not many real worlds that looks like that. But otherwise it's a RPG worth playing. 8/10

It is a really nice RPG, one of the first ones too. I recommend it with friends.

-Delegorn needs to have the players' vision shared
-the Doom Guard kills all humans near the castle and then goes back some steps and stays there with his back to the castle
-need more food for mule packs... otherwise players have to return to the castle and that takes time
-there are places where the waterfalls flow the other way around
-it's easy to drag a few units from a group of enemies out and kill them
-the Revenants in the mountain temple should come from their graveyard to ambush the players when they get in front of their way not just near them
-every character teleports...
-Ethereal Ring needs a cooldown number in the description
-some heroes, apart from not having a glow, look like some enemy or allied units
-the mule packs are teleported near the heroes at every cinematic scene
-how did the lich get through the demon base?
-the lich is weaker than a pack of demons... especially when he gets stunned
-the enchantress suddenly teleported everybody in a prison and locked them...

-gold is pretty much useless later on
-the storyline is not just boring but the transmission can't be skipped and cinematic scenes are too long for a multiplayer map

3.5/5 from me.

Fantastic map, better than many that came after it. I first beat it at least a year ago but replaying it today while more awake (beat it at like 4 am last time) made me appreciate it even more. A surprising quality of writing for a warcraft 3 map.
