gold mines hide units which is gay and unwanted

you said like starcraft
I never played starcraft I but in starcraft II workers are eaten by vespine geysers

So instead of having unlimited peasants being able to harvest the tree, you want only "X". Well that can be triggered if that's what you want. I don't know of any gameplay constants that could change that behavior.

it is quite complicated to check if a unit stops harvesting a tree
also it is not easy to check if a unit switches its tree because it is blocked
