So, i finally got my new rig set-up, took MUCH longer than expected due to car registration, car insurance, blah blah blah. Anyway, here are the specs.

EVGA X58 Tri-SLI Mobo
Intel Core i7 [email protected]
12GB DDR3@1600mhz (yes, much more than any conventional user would need, but i'm not a conventional user, plus i got an outrageous deal on it)
2x500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 in RAID 0
GTX 285 2GB (once again, got a really good deal on this, otherwise i would have gone with an HD 5850 or 5870)
X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Sound Card
Corsair HX-850W PSU
Antec P183 Performance One case
Windows 7 Pro x64

Runs much faster than my older AMD Phenom II x3 720 based system. Though, Halo 2 PC has problems with the GTX 285, i get a steady 60 fps, but the cursor is really sketchy and acts funky. Updating drivers didn't fix it sadly.

Does the sound card actually affect anything? I heard that DX10/11 dropped support for hardware sound acceleration.

No idea, i haven't heard anything about that. I did notice a slight quality increase when i switched between my on-board and the sound card, but not enough that i would recommend you buy a discrete audio solution if you really don't need it.

Congratulations!

Make sure you take good backups regularly. RAID-0 with two drives is twice as likely to fail as having a single hard drive.
