Focus & Layout

Hello People! I just got an idea. I was thinking about what the layout of the site focuses on.. It focuses a lot on the link in the top and on the banner.. but everything else is just like black.. I was thinking about making a background or something for the place where all the text goes so it isnt like boring and hidden. What do you think? got any ideas?

I think the metal borders is very much like the human HUD in warcraft3.
