Yeah, I'm with you Prince, the only thing i'm good at is recolours as well :) I like it however, don't let Wulfy get ya down just cuz she's the pro :p To earn her praise is a challenge in itself :) I like them, I enjoy a good recolour, only thing that seems odd to me is how retarded his eyes are xD

So true.Sad thing is recolors are only useful if your making a map and you don't want somebody else to share the glory but still want some different textures. -.-.So my point is recolors aren't too useful and since I can't really skin I'll have no way to help the community and get rep.

I don't use smudge and I don't use dodge or burn. And when did I say recoloring is a skin I never said that...That tutorial was indeed useful for showing me what I already know.

Eh I know how to but im still not good at It been working on it and heres what I got.I started over for two reasons:
1:I think It was bad
2:It was JPEG form instead of TGA

You'll notice a big difference in the hair before i just brushed over it (including black spots) in red in a certain opacity now i do single hair strands which looks realer plus i found the perfect opacity for red and orange so It looks good.

That's fine, just don't do it again. Here's a really quick paint over, took 5 minutes, please don't judge me by it:p All I did was use a 2 and 1 pixel brush to first layout the hairs with darker parts, then really define and highlight them.

Well here's a very quick, extremely exaggerated example. I made it exaggerated so you can see the steps.

First block in your color.
Next use a darker version of that color to set in some details.
Next use a lighter version to add some highlights.
Then start to define things.
Smooth that out some.
In this last step I really defined things. I added tons of other colors, and showed what it would be like if other things were glowing or reflecting colors onto where I had the purple highlights.

All of this is done with a hard 1-2 pixel brush. Don't follow the steps exactly, do them how you feel neccesary. And remember that it won't be good the first time. These things require practice.
