Escape/Maze/Slide map category full of noncorresponding maps

Would you mind making a list of these maps that don't fit in the list? That way I can quickly go through them and fix the category.

Can i ask if the uploader put the category or the moderator?.....

If the uploader its ok most of them don't know the means of those categories even me..

I'd rather clean up the maps section a bit and then double-check Vlad's list.

A total clean up of the map section could be nice. Just removing the maps without even a small description, or that are in alpha stage and such + correcting errors if there are any.

But we don't have enough active map moderators atm...

That will not happen, today's standards do not apply to older maps, so we are not allowed to just remove older maps that you deem inappropriate with today's standards and requirements.

I have now started going through the list because I have time on my hands. Maps like Deathwhisper Maze, Forest Escape fit perfectly well in that category if you ask me. Many of them seem to fit within the maze part. Can you help me understand this?

Well, mazes is a genre of map derived of escapes, where you have to run on a specific path (if you go out of this path, you're dead) while avoiding ennemies. As in escapes and slides, you finish levels by reaching some point.

But Maze might also mean Labyrinth. I find this to be quite a bit granular :S.

How about adding sub-categories to maps? Like letting the map posters choose what categories might fit their map so searching for maps gets a whole lot easier. I got this idea from your posts because you were talking about whether the map was a maze or a mini-game. I have encountered this a lot of times especially with rpg maps that have a survival theme added to them, AoS' that have an arena feel to them, etc.

When uploading you can pick multiple categories, so that shouldn't be a problem. I do however think we need to describe each category to not have misunderstandings.

True, the problem is that the uploader doesn't always know what a category stands for, especially for not so known map styles.
