what is the maximum number of polys it should be for a basic unit? 1347 is to much? I can reduce it to 770...is it to much ?

1347 is much, but not too much, I'd say. If you can reduce the poly count without making the model look crappy, it's of course always welcome, because it reduces the file size and optimizes performance.
