[Spell] Does Charm give you research levels of the previous owner for free?

Hey,
I was just wondering if Charm gives you the original owner's upgrade levels. I have an upgrade at level 50 for Neutral Hostile and when I Charm a creep, I get the same level of the upgrade. If this is the case, can I disable this behavior?
If I cannot disable this, is the only workaround a custom Charm spell?
If it is not the case, then my map might somehow be broken.

I think it is tied to the research in question. There is an attribute that controls this behavior iirc.

Found the option: "Transfer with Unit Ownership (ginh)" was set to true. Thx.
