And, if you'll suggest periodically checking the amount of gold, I can't, because it will collide (because it's a multi-resource system).

you could trigger the harvesting which would be a lot of stuff to do
or you could disable the periodic check while you are trading other resources with your multi resource system (or whatever it does)

/@ D4RK: One problem, when peons cast the dummy ability on a gold mine, they will enter even though someone is still mining. Is it possible to make the other peons wait first until the current mining peon finishes up?

That resource detects trades.
