In the latest update (version 0.54) of the campaign, the original version compatible with Warcraft 3 versions 1.26 and 1.27 has been restored and updated. This allows players using version 1.27, who were unable to play version 0.49+ of the campaign previously, to enjoy all the new content from start to finish without encountering crashes. Additionally, a campaign file edited and fixed by a 1.29 editor has been included for players with version 1.29+ of the game.
1) Download the correct campaign file for your game version
2) Place the file into your My Documents/Warcraft 3/Campaigns for game v1.29+ or [Your Warcraft 3 Directory]/Campaigns for game v1.26 & v1.27
2) Don't rename the campaign file longer than it was dowloaded (shorter is fine) or map transition may not work
3) Keep your save file names short to ensure map transition works smoothly
4) Play the campaign
Inspired by The Founding of Durotar Campaign, yet unsatisfied by how short but fascinating the campaign was, this campaign aims to create a bigger world with more areas and various styles of gameplay. Note that the campaign followsnoneof the Warcraft or World of Warcraft lore. It takes place at a different world despite using the names of some of the same characters in Warcraft.
This campaign was first developed based on the idea of gameplay and exploration. Even though the Rexxar Campaign was amazing, it was kinda short for my taste. For the longest time, I have always wanted to create a campaign like that but bigger and more diverse in term of gameplay. My first thoughts were to make as many maps as possible. Therefore, more play-styles can be implemented such as regular RTS games, defense games, arena games, puzzles, MOBA, mini-games and many more, into only one single campaign. And here it is, this RPG campaign is the result of that.
Campaign in the style of The Founding of Durotar with many unique elements Defenders of the Light aims to provide something beyond the experience of the original Warcraft 3 and the Founding of Durotar. It has many unique minigames and contents that you may get pleasantly surprised about. It may look like a typical Warcraft 3 campaign at the start, but the changes only show themselves gradually the deeper you dive into the campaign.
An original, beautiful and impactful storyline which was written to touch your heart Growing up, I always love the kind of stories that realistically portrait the characters as real human beings, with goodnesses and flaws. Therefore, I created this story with the same mindset in mind. Great movies and games successfully touched my heart in the past. Great works of art always give me the experiences I could never forget. I hope Defenders of the Light will do the same thing to you.
More than 16 playable maps for Act I and more than 12 playable maps for Act II After completing The Founding of Durotar, I was a bit disappointed of how few the maps are, and also got even more disappointed in the later Acts that the number of maps not only shrinks but the story also becomes more linear. I created this campaign not with the intention to surpass The Founding of Durotar. I only created what I wanted to play, something bigger, something I could enjoy a lot more. Unlike the map layout of The Founding of Durotar, which has one main map and some submaps around it, the maps in Defenders of the Light do not structure the same way. You'll know it when you play it.
Custom units and custom AI, adding new layers of complexity and skills on top of the original Warcraft 3 If Warcraft 3 is made simply for RTS, then the original unit attacking patterns (move, attack, cast spells) are fine with me. However, RPG formulas require the game to be more complex and compelling. Defenders of the Light starts out like any a typical Warcraft 3 campaign with normal units doing what normal units do in Warcraft 3. It gets more complicated as time goes on as it will require more control on your part. You will see the full result of my vision with custom units and AIs in the Second Act.
Many unique boss fights. Many of them are difficult yet memorable Beside the story, the boss fights in this campaign will be the most memorable feature you'd ever experience. I was so proud of creating the bosses in the second Act. They are challenging, beautiful, phenomenal and most memorable.
Map transition system - Most maps can be traveled back and forth This feature itself is quite rare of a feature for a custom campaign on HIVE. To me it's quite hard to find a campaign like The Founding of Durotar that utilizes the map transition system. Most campaigns have you play from one map to another without coming back to the previous maps to progress with the story. Defenders of the Light does that which makes it distinctively an RPG campaign. With this system, you can do some interesting things with it that other campaigns cannot.
This campaign was initially created for game versions 1.26 and then 1.27, ensuring compatibility and stability between both the game and map versions. If you are using either 1.26 or 1.27, this version will provide the best and most stable experience.
For those with Warcraft 3 version 1.29+, this update (version 0.54) is tailored for you. While the edits and fixes were made with a 1.29 editor, the base campaign and map files originate from 1.26 & 1.27 editors. Despite numerous efforts to eradicate bugs and crashes in this latest update, I cannot guarantee a completely crash-free experience. If you do encounter any issues, please let me know so I can address them more effectively in future updates.
This version, tailored for Classic Reforged, was originally developed using game version 1.36 and has been recently updated under version 2.00. The focus is on rebuilding Act I from the ground up to deliver a stable campaign experience. Classic Reforged introduces exciting features like item stacking and enhanced triggers, significantly elevating the gameplay experience. I'm thrilled for players to dive into these improvements and discover everything Classic Reforged has to offer.

General Issues
Don't rename the campaign file longer than it was downloaded (shorter is fine) or the map transition may not work
Keep your save file names short to ensure the map transition works smoothly
Transitioning to another map with at least one of your hero being revived will crash the game.
Sometimes enemies spawn behind trees and rocks. Not all of them can be fixed but many of them can be. Just let me know where the spawns specifically are so that I can fix them in future updates.
Sometimes you would see units' shadows on the map without any unit there. They are the unintended by-products from the spawn system. Just ignore them.
Map Specific Issues
In Blood Feather, the Circle of Power may disappear (visually) after a game is loaded.
In Dungeon of Edenvale, game was reported to crash at the end of the dungeon for game version 1.29+ before. If the cinematic at the end is skipped, the crash is negated.
In Glaring Shore, the game may crash if all of your heroes die. I'm not sure if this bug is caused by patch 1.30 or not.
In Zheidland, bugs may occur due to how much contents the map has. Events may overlap on one another which causes bugs. I'd recommend not to rush and activate too many quests/events at once when you are in this map to prevent bugs from occurring
Patch Issues
Version 2.00 introduced some unexpected bugs that we hadn't encountered before, though none are particularly severe. The most noticeable issue involves invisible enemies occasionally replacing existing ones during map transitions. This appears to result from the game failing to load certain unit models properly upon loading a new map. Another issue is the inconsistent scaling of some units in 2.00, causing them to appear either smaller or larger than their intended size.
They were this campaign's testers. I learned that campaign testing is not only about bug finding and bug fixing. They have done a lot more than that. They contributed a lot of suggestions and ideas to develop the campaign greatly. The scripts of the campaign were also rewritten and improved greatly by them. If you see the version of this campaign when it first came out in the Map Developement section in 2017, you may be surprised of the big difference between that version and the version you have now. All I'm saying is that without their help and you guys' support, this campaign may not have happened. I could never have done this by myself. Thanks to all, it is finally here. Thank you very much.
It is not recommended that you read this section due to spoilers. You should only see this section once you have completed the main game. Please stop reading this part if you haven't played the game, it would just be a disservice to yourself.

Hello, I'm Tim, also known as ThinhHo on the HIVE workshop. I'm a Mechanical Engineer. Video game has been a part of my life and I take great joy in making my own contents. Red Alert 2, Starcraft were some of my childhood games that defined who I am as a gamer today. I made Starcraft custom maps for quite some time before getting into making Warcraft 3 maps in 2015. Back then I was fascinated by how lovely the graphics of Warcraft 3 were. I dreamt of how cool it would be to make an RPG world out of its editor, yet I was intimidated by how complicated the programming and triggering process worked. Not until I tried picking it up and opening up the maps of the Founding of Durotar...
Defenders of the Light started out as only some customizations of the Founding of Durotar campaign. New units were added, along with new quests, new events, new enemy scaling, etc. The trickiest things to learn were learning to putting together the spawning system and the transition system. Having to figure out everything by yourself with no background in computer science made the hours of trails and errors quite a challenging but very enjoyable process. Hours and hours of iteration led me to being quite skilled in using the World Editor of Warcraft 3
After several simple maps were made with the transition system, I started to think of making a campaign. The story was developed from there. Now we are here, to enjoy this work of art. I hope you will enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it.
You probably have played and watched many works of art that touched your heart and made you lost in thoughts for days, weeks or even months just like I do. Many widely appreciated contents are usually those that make players/viewers contemplate on the true meanings behind their stories. Good games and movies bring along values that make you grow deeper and wiser as a person. I truly hope Defenders of the Light really gives you, even when it's only you, something to think about, to value and to remember just like how other artworks did to you. If this campaign was worth your time and it was something that brought value to your soul, feel free to support me in creating this piece of art by donating here.
Thank you.
Compilation of most items and custom items used in Defenders of the Light
Because of how items are formulated in Defenders of the Light, with both positive and negative stats, it creates a vast possibility of how many custom items can exist in the game. This beautiful visual compilation does not show details of where to obtain the items in the game. It only shows what the item looks like and what stats they have. All items from common, uncommon to legendary are included in here without certain order. Feel free to enjoy yourself with this wall of colorful items.
Information about the major characters in Defenders of the Light.
This information is supplemental and it is written in a way to avoid spoilers in the campaign. Below is the collection of some of the characters in Defenders of the Light. I put so much thoughts into creating them. Their life, their past, their future, their fear and their desires have been developed for a long time until this day. This section should only be seen by people who seek to know more about the world of Defenders of the Light. Please avoid reading through these if you haven't played the campaign.

I'd appreciate any bug reports, suggestions and tips!
Really nice campaign! I would love to finish it but here is my problems:
-Played on 1.29 version a few times but after I beat Chen on prison map I can't continue further ( the door to right can't be destroyed and if I go ahead no transaction to another map.
-Played recently on 1.31 version twice but I get stuck in Edenvale because of the crab mission - basically they don't spawn - second time I tried playing, yes I used cheats to fast forward until that mission and still nothing.
Do I miss some triggers or anything else?

There should be no transition problem at all if you play on 1.29. A cinematic should activate right after you defeat Chen, then you should be able to transition to the map straight ahead.
In fact, the reason why I think you can’t proceed was due to the cheats you used. Many boss fights have anticheats. If you defeat them with cheat, the campaign prevents you from proceeding. When you used the vision cheat in Edenvale City, the crabs don’t spawn. That also stops players from proceeding. If you reload any previous save files and play those parts without cheats, you should be fine.
Edit: Wait it worked now if I picked up that again, as of now I cant reproduce it sry but let me just put it here in case if I find that issue again.
My wc3 version is v1.29.2
Hi, really like this RPG type bc sometimes it is boring just playing RTS and I dont pay anything to play something of a diable gameplay with novel story. I got into an issue when Adias picked up the steel crown but not getting 40 armor for
6 secs after casting storm bolt to an enemy unit.
Just do a quick move at a ground or right click an enemy when casting Storm bolt such that the bolt is launched and cast animation is not completed. My guess is that I think the trigger condition for the armor buff is "when the cast animation is completed", not "when the cast animation is initiated".
I am quite an experienced player so I do it mostly to skip some cast time. Would be super if trigger condition can be changed.
Hello guys, how can i complete eight orbs quest minigame in zheidland, i found the lightings bolts but i still dont know the pattern? anyone? having pain for it for weeks idk whats the pattern of it.
Wow... I didn't expect Act 2 to have been out for a long time, the last time I played it until the end of Act 1... but my previous game in Act 1 was lost when I continued Act 2 :'(
Hello there once more, my dudes =) I want to ask a question - is there any way to merge items like ring of C + cloak of F? Or is that ring totally useless in chapter 2 now?
Hello, I wanted to report a bug which unfortunately prevents me for continuing the main story. It's during the blood feather cinematic after killing the shamans companion. The resulting cinematics of the village attack all play ok, however when the cinematic starts when they are on the ship the game simply crushes. Skipping the cinematic also results in a crush. I get the same issue with version 1.29 and 1.31, no cheats and playing on Reforged. I would be most grateful if you can recommend a solution to this as I simply can't play the game beyond that point.
Hello. i want to ask something about the item mask that allow you go to a sealed place. i buy it from that wandering merchant but for unknown reason the mask doesn't show up but the money was spent. this is my struggle because that merchant is the only way to get through that place.
Make sure to check out the "Known Issues" section before download this campaign. It's really important.
If you still get the problems, re-download the campaign and make sure the filename is DOTL.w3n (renaming it will broke the campaign features).

So I got it to work now, and the heroes are all made out of paper mache? its insane how much damage you constantly take and how little mana/mana regen you get, 100% of my mana has to go into healing or I just die instantly
Armor is entirely worthless (20 armor = 10% damage reduction?) and enemies all hit for 100+ damage
You are pretty much forced into avoiding combats wherever possible, run whenever you can. they dont give any good rewards anyways since all items I saw so far were worthless (cleared up to Dark wood)
Like e.g. the dark cave; entirely worthless - no items whatsoever, you just open that door and then there is nothing behind it. like wtf
Much worse than the "inspiration"
-Items are worthless
-Armor does nothing
-You always feel underpowered, every enemy hits like a truck (100+ damage) and you have no way to fight except for headbutting in until they die or you die
-Enemies respawn rapidly (which makes the aforementioned gameplay loop hell)
-Way too many and WAY TOO SLOW cinematics, either get bored to death looking at a silent screen with info you dont care about for minutes on end just to potentially read a important quest info, or skip and dont know what might be going on.
Because they always ramble for eternity before saying anything wortwhile.
-Characters all seem crazy, acting irrationally and doing/saying weird things that just dont make sense
Overall boring and rather illogical story, bad gameplay, weak heroes, unbalanced enemies, quests give no or very poor rewards...
So I got it to work now, and the heroes are all made out of paper mache? its insane how much damage you constantly take and how little mana/mana regen you get, 100% of my mana has to go into healing or I just die instantly
Please refrain from emotional rating. Some things might just not be to your liking and you'll have to call it a day. However, giving 1 star to such work is mean.
Hello! This is a great game and I wish I could play more. If not for the bugs. Playing on 1.31, I encountered a game ending bug at the end of the Endenvale dungeon, after defeating the Panda and leaving, the game failed to load the next map and froze, forcing an alt-tab. I attached a screenshot of the last playable instance before the crash.

You mean the game "freezes" when the map transition happened with the annoying black screen loop? It's such an obvious issues in 1.31.1.
Sadly, there's no known way to fix this big problem. I heard that using the "Quit Campaign" method is the only way to avoid this problem, but as you may know, it's a campaign with LOTS of map transition just like the Rexxar campaign. The map transition won't work if you used this method.
This campaign is even unstable on both versions, so don't sweat enough. Re-downloading this campaign doesn't help you.

its not a huge issue, but i think the fountain side quest in the little village is bugged, ive run all around the fountain and it doesnt register, and i cant talk to vicar, otherwise tho im having a blast playing through (also how do i get inside the inner temple on lonely island, i figured out the cypher warlock and the 2 door codes, but the gate is just there closed)

Make sure you're not using any kind of cheat codes, preferably the "Iseedeadpeople" one, as this will mess up the campaign (like enemies not respawning).
Some of the optional quests in this campaign involve killing someone that's required for unlocking the other quests (most notably, the crabs in Edenvale).

I've been keeping a close eye on Warcraft 3 and our beloved campaign over the past year. It became apparent that no one managed to finish the campaign in 2023 due to those pesky game crashes. After some thorough investigation, I discovered that the crashes weren't caused by the triggers within the maps, but rather by the underlying data shift between game updates. This made older maps incompatible with newer versions, leading to those frustrating crashes. Even saving the campaign with newer editors while the maps were created with older ones didn't do the trick.
Players using game versions 1.26 and 1.27 were unable to experience versions 0.49 and 0.52 of the campaign because these were saved using the 1.29 world editor. In a nutshell, players with game versions 1.26 and 1.27 were left in the dark, while players with version 1.29 continued to endure crashes.
With Reforged not having custom campaign feature a while back, me losing my old campaign version and was unable to open the older editor version of the game, I had no idea what to do to fix the problems. This image below describes in an easier way to understand what happened.
But there's light at the end of the tunnel! Several breakthroughs came our way:
1) Blizzard added the Custom Campaign feature back to Reforged.
2) I learned and mastered the art of seamlessly switching between different versions of editors.
3) A kind friend sent me version 0.46 of DOTL, which was still compatible with game version 1.27.
I've been hard at work updating this campaign file from version 0.46 to 0.52 and beyond, which is why I've dubbed it version 0.54. While it may not be the flashiest update, players using versions 1.26 and 1.27 can now enjoy the campaign from start to finish with minimal bugs and, most importantly, no crashes!
I've also tidied up many redundant transition triggers to reduce the chances of crashes for players using version 1.29+, although I can't promise complete stability.
But wait, there's more! Act I of Defenders of the Light is being developed from scratch for classic Reforged, which will negate the crashes completely when it is available to play. This also means that Reforged players will finally be able to experience Defenders of the Light and some of its new features, like built-in item stacking, without the need for triggers. It's shaping up to be quite the adventure!
So, to all the warriors who journeyed through Defenders of the Light on the 1.27 version of the game, your adventure awaits once more. I can't wait to hear about the epic tales you'll uncover in the kingdom of Edenvale and Zheidland.
dark8118, a dedicated YouTuber, has achieved a remarkable feat by conquering the challenge map in Act II of Defenders of the Light. His perseverance and skill have earned him a well-deserved place in the campaign's prestigious Hall of Fame. Yes, I've watched him beat the map myself. It was insane.
Thank you all for your unwavering support, and I hope you enjoy this update as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Hello i made this account as i wanted to let you know that there is a bug that's crashing my game so i can't get any longer in your Campaign. P.S no game cheats where used ever so that's not the reason for any of the thing's.
When i'm in the map Stormhaul and a few mins after completing the quest to kill some giant zombies my game crashes every time without me doing anything.
My guess is there is a trigger or something that's making my game crash but who knows.
In my play through i had 2-3 game crashes after some cut scenes ended but i found that i could reload as i had made a save close and click Esc to skip the cut scene and i would get no game crash so i always made sure to save often and before cut scenes so i could reload and Esc if needed but ofc that's not how it should be. I think it was in Edenvale city every time but could remember wrong.
Is the phoenix mini game bugged? It seems that when you go all the way you end up with prizes that are good but does same prizes you can get from getting 1min left as well? And the prizes for the quest to get a rare item you get from 1-2 min left and there are no tome prizes unless you get does from worse then 3min? As i tried winning with no time left, less then 1 min left, between 1-2min left, and last 2-3min left, saw no tomes but not sure if does are just gone from the game? i just saw someones post on what they had found and for them winning was a tome.
After you complete Edenvale Dungeon and you want to go back it takes forever for the zone to load, my guess is because of the amount of triggers from the puzzle event where you need to remember what circle to click, as i went all the way with that one. But it could be something else?
In Edenvale city where you can do the optional quest to bring items for hints i got stuck on the 4th part i think where you had to bring a item i remember finding in Shimmer Wood but had sold it because at that point in the game i did not need it anymore but needed gold instead however i can now no longer finish that quest chain. I think it would be more smart if you kept it to vendor items like the first 3 so you know the player can finish the quest should they want to.
Is there a dagger of blink in the game or am i missing something big? I have seen a few places where there is no way for you to get to unless there is a dagger of blink or something like it. Glowing Cave top left looks like there is something on the other side of the lava but not sure. The Barrows middle bottom there is a island with water around and no way to get there beside some platforms for blink to get over? But not sure. Den of the Murlocs near the end of the map before you go up to big boss, around the water with the huts you can see a gold coin near top left, but there is no way to get there, This is what started me to belive there had to be some sort of blink item seeing as the flamestaff could not get you there like all the other places in the Murlocs Den. There could be other places maybe one on the lonly island as quit some dark spots with no way to get there unless it is mountians who knows.
In the Dark wood 1 after you smash the power generator that opens up all the gates there is still a gate left unopende with some harpy nest things behind and you can't smash the gates is it a bug?
In Dark Wood 2 you meet a shaman that talks about souls and him lossing power but you can help him by killing them so he opens up a circle for you to solo vs another hero. However there is no quest popup about this and when you win you get nothing, i did 5 wins in a row to see if something would happen but it never did, at first i thought you had to kill 1 of each type of hero in the game as they where not the same but that got shot down when i saw the same one again on the 5-6 go so i stopped doing it. Is something bugged here or am i missing something big?
In Edenvale city there is a mini game with sheep where you have to win 25 times for the quest, but it talks about there being like 50 lvls or something? It gets insainly fast when you get to the 20 mark, with it pritty much being instant and no way of seeing it, unless you turn down the game speed all the way down you have a small chance to see it, but how are you ever to get 50 right? As it keeps getting faster.
Recently tried to play on it 1.31 and had some minor crashes but nothing major until i got to the throne room where you have to fight arthas , the map transistion doesn't happen and game crashes.
i will try it on 1.30 and see if it works but so far this has been amazing, thank you for making this!
Chen's ability Drunken Fury - spell description says +20%, +25%, ..., however, description in skill selection (on level-up) says +120%, +125%, ...
Avatar of Judgment ability Mana Transfer - spell description says one point of Avatar's mana becomes 1.5 mana for the target. It's actually the opposite.
Also I got a quality-of-life suggestion. I read texts during cinematics in like one tenth of the time the text stays on the screen, so I skip the cinematics, because I don't have the patience to stare at the screen for 10 minutes every time - I still want to follow the story though, so it would be great if it was possible to skip on text-by-text basis, not the whole cinematic at once. I've seen this mechanic in various custom campaigns before.

Mana Surge and Mana Rush
Item
Old Description
Improved Description
Mana Surge
The item is said to bring health and prosperity to the people around it.
This enchanted relic pulses with a subtle, magical energy, drawing power from restorative herbs and elixirs. A surge of arcane energy flows outward with each use, invigorating those nearby with unseen power. Only the most attuned warriors can fully harness its symbiotic magic, turning healing into both recovery and renewal.
Mana Surge and Mana Rush were two very underwhelming items. Using a health restoring item while having Mana Rush in your inventory also restores the Hero's mana by 150 mana and using a healing item while having Mana Surge in your inventory restores the Hero and his allies' mana by 150 (now, by 120 mana). The idea sounds cool and having these items encourage players to use healing consumables more. The problem was the number of healing items that work with Mana Surge and Mana Rush were very few. With this new update, so many healing items have been implemented to work with these two blue unique items. And here is the new list with compatible healing items you can use to get extra mana for your heroes.

The last six items are permanent active items with cooldowns, meaning they aren't consumable and can be used repeatedly. They're also compatible with Mana Surge and Mana Rush, allowing you to continuously benefit from both their effects and the mana regeneration provided by your two blue items. These combinations offer great potential for strategic play. However, Shimmerglaze Roast is incompatible with these items, as its lack of a cooldown would overpower your heroes. Additionally, you can stack up to 99 Shimmerglaze Roasts in your inventory at a low cost, making it an imbalanced choice.
New and Improved Items
The following are newly introduced or enhanced items designed to enrich the gameplay experience. As someone fascinated by creating tank builds for heroes, I’ve added the Shield of the Lion and the Rahandir Axe. When combined with the Vindicator Belt, these items transform your hero into a formidable tank, capable of withstanding heavy damage before falling. The game is balanced to ensure no single build dominates every fight or situation, but specific builds can offer unique advantages depending on the challenges you face.
The Golden Amulet, previously known as the Ring of Greed in earlier versions of the campaign, was designed to grant players bonus gold for each kill on Hard difficulty. In the past, Adias would start with this item by default when playing on Hard. However, it is now available for purchase from Dave Munshi at the start of the campaign. While it still provides the lucrative advantage of earning extra gold, players must now make an upfront investment, adding a strategic element to its acquisition and use.
The Bloodfeather's Heart has been upgraded with a new active ability, allowing you to save your party from defeat when mana is depleted. This restorative power makes it a truly worthy addition to the roster of rare items, obtainable only through the challenging Phoenix Egg minigame.
The Spear of Eternal Flow is a brand-new item designed to provide heroes with much-needed mana regeneration, addressing a niche often overlooked by other items in the campaign. Its powerful effect makes it one of the most valuable items to acquire. It replaces the previously underwhelming Ring of the Necromancer from the Phoenix Egg minigame. Additionally, Soul Redemption, one of the three rare items obtainable through the minigame, has been buffed. With enhanced effects that make all three items highly desirable, each now also features updated lore, weaving rich backstories that deepen the world of Defenders of the Light.
New Item
Description
Item Effect
Shield of the Lion
Once a fierce warrior, King Terenas of Edenvale wielded the lion as a symbol of the kingdom's strength and ambition. In his youth, he led his people with the boldness of a conqueror. However, the tragic loss of his queen transformed him. No longer driven by the fires of conquest, Terenas embraced a path of compassion, guiding Edenvale with wisdom and benevolence, leaving behind the mantle of the warrior for that of the protector.
Blocks incoming damage by 9, increases armor by 10 but drains the Hero's mana by 1.2 mana per second.
Rahandir Axe
This jagged, blood-rusted axe was wielded by Rahandir Drakeskull in his unholy quest for vengeance. Forged in the fires of betrayal, it drinks deep from the life force of its victims, feeding its wielder's strength with each brutal strike. Imbued with dark magic, Rahandir’s Executioner grants immense power but fills the wielder with an insatiable lust for revenge, whispering tales of treachery and broken oaths with every swing.
Increases the Hero's damage by 20 but reduces intelligence by 8. Activate to cast War Stomp that deals 200 damage to nearby land units. Cooldown: 141 seconds.
Golden Amulet
"This item is often overlooked to be an ordinary golden amulet. They don't know how rich they would become using it. But you do, my friend." said the shop owner.
Receives additional 3 - 5 gold coins from each kill.
Bloodfeather's Heart
An undead archery champion, resurrected with a burning purpose, vowed to eradicate humanity as if this destiny had been etched into her very being upon reincarnation. Having suffered the devastating losses of her mentor, her disciple, and her shade companion, she has spent years wandering, tirelessly seeking new ways to overthrow humanity and establish undead supremacy with unyielding determination.
Increases agility by 10. Activate to instantly restore 500 health to the Hero and nearby allies at the cost of draining 500 mana from each. Cooldown: 200 seconds.
Scepter of Eternal Flow
Years ago, Duskwatch village was attacked by the undead and saved by a courageous young paladin. An archer champion, captivated by his bravery, fell deeply in love with him and vowed to improve her skills to earn his recognition. Yet, the paladin married someone else, unaware of her feelings. She followed him through every battle, silently carrying her unspoken love to the grave.
Increases mana regeneration by 1.1 mana per second, reduces strength by 8. Use to restore 200 mana to an allied unit for 2 seconds (interruptible).
Soul Redemption
Whispers tell of an undead archer roaming the land, seeking answers to the mystery of her identity before her resurrection. Despite years of searching, even with the support of her closest allies, her quest proved fruitless. Despair took hold, and the hope that once guided her began to fade, driving her to turn against the very humans she once trusted.
Restores 5% of max mana for the Hero from each kill, increases the hero's max mana by 180 but decreases Intelligence by 6.
Mara's Passing - A Glimpse into Act III
A new cinematic has been created, potentially serving as the opening for Act III, though it could seamlessly fit elsewhere in the story, even in Act II. In Defenders of the Light, Adias' wife was briefly mentioned in Act II, leaving her fate a mystery. This cinematic delves deeply into her past, exploring her relationship with Adias and the events leading to her passing. For the first time, AI-generated voices were used to bring the characters to life. While not perfect, this experimental approach effectively complements the storytelling and adds a fresh layer of depth to the narrative.
While this short cinematic may not ultimately be included in the campaign, they will remain part of the development blog, offering additional context and enriching the world of Defenders of the Light for those who wish to explore its deeper narrative layers. Another dialogue between Darak and Chen can also be read in the development thread of Defenders of the Light.
Minor Improvements to some Boss Fights
This update includes several minor improvements and bug fixes for boss fights:
Spider Monster will no longer cast her circling arrows while moving. She is now forced to stop before executing the ability, making her behavior more predictable.
Sira - The Guardian will no longer randomly throw her glaive during other actions. Her moves are now fully readable, predictable, and counterable, providing a fairer challenge.
The AI for the bosses in the Fallen Lords map has been improved, eliminating previous issues where they would behave unpredictably or be easily exploited.
A while ago I was playing dotl129 on my reforged 1.36. However, I encountered a bug that made me cannot continue the map in the middle of the game after killing 7 big zombie missions (the map is when I fight with many very large zombies. I only have 1 save named '1' and every time I load the saves, in 3-5 sec I get force close from the game).
and,
now with the new version of dotl136. Is there a way to load my saves from dotl129 to dotl136, or i only can play the dotl136 from a fresh start?
I like this custom campaign, even tho I have to load the game after so many force closes until the zombie map which leaves me with no option to continue the map anymore haha

Hi @Inquisitor ,
I'm glad that you enjoyed the campaign. The map you are referring to is Map22 Stormhaul.
Unfortunately, you have to continue from a fresh start because the old saves will not be compatible with the new campaign files. To avoid the problem that you encountered, I recommend that you keep multiple saves so that you have the backups to lean back to in case the same thing happens again. Keep in mind that DOT136 does not include Act II. If you want to play Act II, DOT129 and DOT127 will have it.
Now I feel like replaying this campaign, I played one of the first versions and I'm not sure how much has changed but I remember that I liked it at the time, so I'm going to do it again.
Definitely a unique campaign. It turns Warcraft 3 into a complete RPG. I haven't played many hours, but I'm curious to see how Adias' story unfolds and I'll keep playing.

Thank you for your kind words and for giving the campaign a try! I'm thrilled to hear that you find it unique and enjoy the RPG elements. Adias' story is filled with twists and emotional depth, and I truly hope you enjoy discovering it as you progress further.
If the campaign continues to resonate with you and you feel it deserves it, I’d greatly appreciate it if you’d consider updating your rating once you’ve had the chance to experience the full story. Your feedback means a lot and helps others discover the campaign. Thanks again for your support and happy adventuring!

Thanks for considering playing it again @Wind Rose , I've had your campaign Red Dawn on my radar for a while but still haven't found the time and mental space to play it. The next custom campaign would be it for sure. Feel free to share any feedback you have for Defenders of the Light and give a good rating if you find the campaign resonates with you.

For this reason I want to play it again, so I can rate it and do a proper review. Because I remember I really liked it but I've forgotten the details right now and I can't do a decent review.
As for my campaign, it would be great if you could play it, but I would advise you to wait until I finish uploading the second part and play version 1.0 directly. In any case, don't have too high expectations, it's the first time I've created a campaign and thanks to Resyak who has helped me in everything, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do anything.
Hello @Honk ,
Thank you for letting me know. Your report helps better the campaign in the future. To pin point where the bugs are, what version of the game did you play the campaign with and what campaign file (DOT127/DOT129 or DOT136) did you play? I am aware of the after-cutscene-and-dialog crashes. They mostly occur in the newer game versions. As far as I know, these cutscene crashes only occur in these particular maps:
Edenvale City
A few crashes can occur here if you play with the newer versions of the game, usually after certain cinematics. It's quite random so you can't predict after which cinematic the game would crash. Usually, skipping the cinematics where the crashes happen helps you continue your gameplay.
Edenvale Dungeon
The only crash that consistently happen to me on this map is the second to final cinematic on this map. Like mentioned above, you can skip the cinematic to continue. I also put a warning about this crash before it happens so players know and save.
Beside that, I don't know if there are many other crashes that happen in other maps as they are not reported. I'd recommend keeping a few different saves to fall back on in case you encounter an issue you can't get out of.
I also recorded a full play-through of the campaign in the newest version DOT136 using version 1.36 (then 2.00 when it got updated) of the game. I finished the campaign with numbers of crashes under 5. The crashes all occured in the 2 maps I mentioned above and no where else. If you encountered something different or if you want to report something more specific, I'd love to know.

DOT136 on WC3 2.0.0.22389. Yes the city was the worst so far. I got once (or twice?) crash in the Shimmer Woods (can't remember names, sorry, the forest before the city)
You can start the quest by talking to a character by the seaport in Edenvale City, then talk to another one in the middle of the city near the fountain of health, the last location is by the west entrance of the city. The map should ping where you have to go for these quests.
Merry Christmas Everyone, I recently started the custom campaign, and came across two NPCs that require the calamity ring for crafting upgrades, I've been looking for it for a long time and still have not been able to find it. Can someone tell me where to get the ring?
How do I fight Kaleo I've cleared out the entire glowing cave, but I haven't been able to fight Kaleo, is there something I have to do later in the game before I come back to do it?
I made you a recording of Darack in the Circle of Power. That's exactly where you have to go, then you will automatically be transported to Kaleo in the arena.
Hello everyone, today I have a question. In the picture I have marked an area that is located in Shimer Wood. I haven't found any access there yet, but it looks like there's something there...
Hello.
Is this campaign still in work in progress?
I see that, as of today, the campaign is at version 0.58 and, I was wondering if the story is completed or not?
