For anyone wondering why I made LotR's Moria spinoff where a mining kingdom gets turned into a tomb, once upon a time...
It was after the Second War and later conflicts with the Horde of Draenor that the Alliance forces are economically drained, both in gold and lumber, with everything left for war reparations. With general base camps, either Alliance or Horde, having depleted Gold Mines, the Alliance found a better alternative for using the lumber they could use for war reparations for mass bonfires and the burning of greenskin bodies. Named after the Deadmines back in Azeroth, these "Dead Mines" are used to to bury the numerous greenskin bodies, armor, and weapons. Remembering the horrors of the orcish necrolytes, warlocks, Ogre-Magi, and Death Knights, the Alliance forces would station troops to guard these haunted Dead Mines.
However, these Dead Mines will be discovered by agents of the Cult of the Damned, resulting in instant summons of skeleton armies.
