DarkMage and Derivatives

This bundle is marked as pending. It has not been reviewed by a staff member yet.
My first model/texture based on the fantastic work of chr2 Since thanks to him, and other fabulous artists/designers or people who simply modify skins of a hero from the base game, they gave me the opportunity to think about expanding the usefulness of these, so my first job was to use based on the idea, and the textures of chr2 to give it more variety as well as a new identity for this unit that at first was only a blood mage but with vibes of being a bandit, but I thought and said to myself "what if I don't limit myself only to its use as a skin and also modify its usefulness in spells? Like in its physical appearance?" so that was where I got the other later versions that if you ask me, these can be used to give variety to human, neutral heroes, or to give life to the campaigns/maps in those background units or that have zero participation, since I don't think anyone will use them as a hero for their campaign or in a modified map of races so... If you are interested in using the models for your map, personal modification, or for something else, you have my permission, just give credit to the original author and if you want to me, but the truth is I don't want to earn all the credit by just using the help of others.

Credits:

chr2 for the original textures of his creation Kirin Tor Warmage, Ujimasa Hojo to use the optimized versions of Blood Mage and Derivatives and so that they do not depend on portrait, and those interested in using this model/skin

Lore:
"Some Mage's expelled from the most prestigious schools or exiled need ways to earn a living, or therefore earn a reputation in a world full of conflict, so with these reasons, mage's have made the decision to ally themselves with an organization, group or simply work as mercenaries using not so ethical spells, using dangerous spells but that can help those they serve..."

Updates:

07/18/25: I improved the textures of the Dark Mage and also added some extra variants with icons included to have more diversity in this hero and that you can use him as a generic enemy, or your character or simply filler, as you like if you want to modify it or use it on your maps. I would tell you to give me credits, but in this case since I originally used some existing textures to create new ones, I honestly think I don't deserve them so use them if you want without credits.

07/19/25: thanks to Lefroit I adapt the textures in the Blood Mage and Derivatives and therefore the portrait is no longer needed separately from the skin or the model, apart from the fact that it includes the original texture, so in this case I thank Lefroit and Ujimasa Hojo for the following resources: DM's Without Portrait so yes, portraits are no longer needed in case you only want the skin with the model implemented and with the portrait (unfortunately when testing the models they have the same attack and effects, so... if that detail doesn't bother you, go ahead :3)

8/1/25: Officially the models are optimized by me (yes it cost me a lot and it is a waste to search one by one, but everything to be in good terms) yes, also thanks with the optimized versions of the good Ujimasa Hojo, now apart from being physically modified to look more aesthetic, they also no longer depend on portrait, therefore the portrait is no longer needed separately, the textures have also been slightly modified for the majority, and... the best for last.... THE CLASSIC VERSION NOW INCLUDES
MULTICOLOR!, that means that if you are green, the classic version such as his cape and some parts of the armor will be the color of the team, I recently learned how to do that (and it is lazy) but it is worth it, and now you can definitely use the 5 models for any context you want :3 Thank you very much for your wait.

I think fire particles would fit him more, but good take on Bandit Human mage !
Thank you very much for the comment and yes, I was thinking about modifying the textures of the skills too... but I don't know if it works exactly the same as a common texture of a model, or it needs specific things, maybe I will investigate that later, but I still appreciate the comment

@TheLazyGeep, congrats with your first recourse! Here you need to add a Portrait (DarkMage_Portrait, just like in vanilla models, OR you can download the Blood Mage model with a merged Portrait from Ujimasa and apply your textures. You should also consider to recalculate extents (if you click on "Sanity Check" tab where your model is attached): you can do it by simply finding an option "Recalculate Extents" in War3ModelEditor or in ReteraModelStudio.

Hello, I noticed that I forgot to place the portrait, I already had it done, I slightly modified the face of the blood mage where I made his features a little more abrupt and making it similar to his model, and yes I will take that into account, thank you!

Hello! And... can that be done? Well... of course you can optimize the resources
Of course it can. Ujimasa Hojo has pulled off something similar.

I'll add bones onto the facial regions (maybe rename some previous bones in the main model) so you will still have a character with portrait animations. I can also make new meshes for the facial hair.

Thank you very much for the gesture. I really appreciate that you can optimize and improve the model, since I don't know how to make a model from scratch, but I definitely appreciate this very much 💜

You're welcome! :) It takes practice with the XYZ on Mdlvis, but you eventually succeed.

Congrats on you first work, hoping to see more from you. I've adapted your model to Blood Mage and Derivatives, so it now has portrait without requiring separate file. Feel free to use it, but don't forget to credit Ujimasa Hojo for the model base.

Oh yes, thank you very much, and yes, I will ask Unimasa for permission in case I need to use it on a map or something like that, but I'm glad you were able to adapt it without needing the character cover, and also this way it helps me keep the first skin because if you look at my post I modified the armor, skin and hair of the DM and its variants.

Interesting work. Hope you do more.

Thank you very much for the comment, and yes to your question, I am going to do more, I just need to think "what would be necessary" so that it is not considered repetitive or of poor quality, and right now I am working on a model/texture of the warden but transforming it into a male version of the hero, only right now I am looking for how to change the internal sounds of the model so that at the moment of death the scream of a woman is not heard, otherwise I would lose the immersion xd

Interesting work. Hope you do more.
