Hello, this is Darkfang here friends, well, I actually never thought I had ANYTHING to teach anyone here, but I noticed many icons, if not most of them, don't even match the WC3 art style, some times it is even hard for me to make them look Warcraft-ish when I draw them free hand, you will notice that if you see my freehand icons:
Yeah, some of them do look warcraftish, but the ones that are faster to do, and that match the gamestyle better, are the ones that I've made by making edits and direct size draw, like this, I created this baby:
and I made this, using these:
Editing, cutting, drawing over, and making some layerwork. This style is pragmatic, because this is quick and provides good results, which is important when you are running your own project, actually, here below you can see some of my art work in this style:
In this tutorial you are going to learn to do both of my styles, the quick warcraft-ish and direct draw, both things are important, and learning how to draw in direct size will teach you how to make good details which will translate into big pictures when you make digital art, which will heavily increase the quality of your work, and the cropping, cnp style will translate into creative photoedition, which allowed to me to create things like these:
So, here are some things you will learn:
*How to make a damn good quality recolor
*How to make a proper layer work in direct size
*How to create a warcraftish icon quickly but with some work
*How to work in direct size
*How to create beautiful effects, backgrounds and details quickly in direct size.
*How to draw in direct size and use Paint.net efficiently
Tools you will need:
Huge Blizz Icon Library (I will upload this in the pastebin)
Paint.net (I will post the link to download)
Patience, attention and will to learn, practice and repeat
Button Manager (this is a must have)
BLP Lab (maybe)
I will continue with this post later
